Morrissey's first album for seven years will be called You Are The Quarry. It'll come out on Attack records in April - the first fruit of the deal he signed last year with Sanctuary.

Moz and his band recorded almost thirty songs at Hook End Manor in Oxfordshire with producer Jerry Finn, and they've now been whittled down to the final set.

Guitarist Alan Whyte told 6 Music a few of the unmistakeably Morrissey-esque titles, which include My Life Is A Series Of People Saying Goodbye, Teenage Dad On His Estate, Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice, I Have Forgiven Jesus and How Can Anybody Know How I Feel.

Alan told 6 Music: "It's gonna be a great album. I think the fans will be really really excited. I personally think it's the best Morrissey album to date. It's kind of like a cross between Your Arsenal and Vauxhall and I musically - there's real variety there. There are some slow songs, some uptempo ones and a few real tough-sounding tracks."

    Hook End or Sarm & Conway... or all 3 (Score:1)
    True-to-you's info gave the impression that it was only the 2 studios (Sarm and Conway) mentioned. And the BBC info gave the impression it was all recorded at Hook End Manor.

    Everyone's talking about the song titles, which are great btw, but for me this sentence says it all: "I personally think it's the best Morrissey album to date. It's kind of like a cross between Your Arsenal and Vauxhall and I musically - there's real variety there."

    Now that is great news!!!!

          this is great news can't wait to hear it AND can't wait for the tour!!! If the album comes out in April, should the tour be in the same month?? Does anyone know?

            Why on earth would anybody describe a new record with references to albums from almost 10 years ago? Nice way of saying, 'oh, here's more of the same old stuff'. Whyte should be trying to sell the album at the very least as new, exciting, progressive, etc.

            More often than not, his release coming out in spring of this year would be a great segway to a US and european tour..probably starting as early as July, I pray that he goes to Maryland instead of Virginia or DC...we have a nice festival seating(no seats venue here. Very much Moz's style. I am quite ecstatic really that his new CD will be coming out..was not surprised that FYE (mall music store) had no knowledge of this. hehe they're more inept than Sam Goody who receives their tour dates after everyone...almost everyone. To know that it will be more of a mix of his best 2 CDs is more than promising!! it is a large load off..knowing that I will be buying a CD that isn't a re-issue or re-package..Thank you Mozzy!! We appreciate you and all you do!! See you this summer ON STAGE!! Been to 3 shows but this 4th will be the one where i get on stage!!
