Dandy Warhols cover "What She Said" in concert

I just back back from the Dandy Warhols' Austin, Texas gig and I couldn't wait to come back and tattle that they did a killer rendition of the Smiths' "What She Said!" They opened with "Be In" and segued into a slowed down, trippy, psychedelic version of "What She Said" and it was awesome. It wasn't as frantic as the Smiths', but it was much spacier. Thought you'd wanna know!

    They did the same thing at the previous night's show in Houston. Actually, it was more just reciting the lyrics over the outro of "Be In" than a cover, but still great to hear.

    I'm more than a little pleased by this item as I really enjoyed the last Dandy Warhols album...nothing more to say than that I'm afraid.

      They also did bits of "Hand In Glove" (Score:2, Informative)
      In Montreal they sang lines from "Hand In Glove" in one of their slow psychedelic numbers, towards the end of the show.

      I was kinda drifting away (3 hour shows are too long) and was brought back to reality when i recognized the lines

      sung very slowly...

      The Dandy Warhols have had the number one single on the College Air top twenty for the last few weeks with "We Used to Be Friends" - actually that single is getting a huge share of the vote on that chart.

      I always find it amusing that the Smiths and Morrissey are so highly regarded by newer groups. The nearly continuous mention of Morrissey as an influence really does speak volumes. It also insures that the music will continue to be appreciated. What other acts are as continuously listed as influences or have their material covered as much?

      Yeah i don't know what the deal is with reciting Smith's lyrics, but obviously the Smiths were a big influence! Very cool. Some brat behind me was looking at the DW's and remarked that one looked like Morrissey and that the DW's weren't known for their "machismo."

      He wasn't exactly Arnold Shwartzenagger (sp)himeslf, frankly.

          I hope that female chick didn't remove her bra and jump up and down like the tiem they opened for BLUR ..they weren't perky..need reinforcements.
          like their earlier stuff but her dangling tits burned into my memory may have been a reason.
