On the BBC's new adaptations of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (13/9/03, 9pm, BBC1 I think), an elderly balding man walked into a hairdressers and requested a Morrissey quiff. The same man was later featured in the background singing a kareoke version of "This Charming Man". Not very well.

Heck, it made me laugh.

      The impression of Morrissey was very, very good and done with some charm and respect. Can anyone give the name of the chap who did the impression? He shoudl get the credit As The Spectator said, it was made all the more funny that after the performance, (in which I think we were treated to the whole of the song), the audience reaction was dead-pan with very little applause - whereas if it had actually been sung in a real pub it would have brought the house down! Harry Hill is no longer the nation's #1 Morrissey impersonator. It's ....that man!

            I videoed this and just watched it because the Wife of Bath is on soon. What the baldy bloke said is even funnier than reported. He said
              "I was thinking of going a bit Morrissey for the Spring, what do you think?"
            The hairdresser doesn't reply and he continues
              "I tried it before and it just made me look like a Teddyboy with a thyroid problem"
