I'm surprised that Morrissey has given an interview to City Life, considering its writers are always slagging him off. There is always a snidy comment about him somewhere in the magazine. City Life is a piss-poor listings mag, and usually only features articles about the staff writers mates; Andy Votel, Damon Gough and a bunch of no-hope generic indie bands who nobody will have heard of within 10 seconds of seeing their names in print.
I will, of course, be buying this particular issue!
I don't think City Life ever forgave Morrissey for moving away from Manchester, and this is an attitude typical to Manchester (and I speak as a proud Manc who still lives here). As soon as anyone finds uccess and has the audacity to move away from their M postcode, they are berated and then dropped like a hot brick.
I was happy to see that Morissey is still fond of Manchester, and I hope he knows just how fond many of us Mancunians are still fond of him too.

Well, consider that it may be nostalgia.

He may probably reminisce (in a way that you probably don't) Cath Carroll and Liz Naylor who created City Life.

And, oh coincidence, said female hell's angels also managed Ludus somewhere in 1982.

So, ehm, well ... never mind.

Morrissey has had ample opportunities to play manchester and the barbed comments he made about the place at bradford last year seem to put his comments about playing the MEN into context as nothing more than platitudes for City Life readers who have votedfor him
