New Morrissey album in October?

Lee writes:

According to a report on C4 teletext (Pg 161). Mozza's new album will be released in October.

olly storey also writes:

I discovered through Alain Whyte that Moz plans to release 'First of the Gang to Die' as the very first single from the new album. the album is called 'Ludus Lumini', a tip of the hat to Linder Sterling and her 80's band!

Update: 06/27 05:27 GMT: The last item from "Olly Storey" is likely a hoax as I recently received another submission (under a different name) that is a more obvious hoax.

Linder and Morrissey met when he was 17. She's about 5 years older. She was the lead singer in a band called Ludus, which was very progressive, pro-feminist, pro-sex, and advanced for the time. She was notorious in Manchester for doing a gig at the Hacienda where each table in the club had a tampon dipped in red paint lying on it. Tony Wilson apparently was furious. She was also famous for having lots of lovers. Moz moved into her flat in Whalley Range (she was living with his good friend Howard Devoto for a while) and the song "Miserable Lie" may have been about that (bad) experience. Anyway, they still seem to be really good friends. The band Ludus never made it, obviously, but it wouldn't surprise me if Linder had a lot of influence over the things Morrissey said in interviews. Particularly his "I'm not gay - I'm just sexual" message. Because that was the sort of vibe Linder gave out too.

That's pretty much all I know about her! She seems to enjoy her privacy and perhaps she doesn't regret not becoming "a star."

No doubting it's truth, Moz stated in 1999 that the next album would be called just that, but I guess time has paled it out of favour. I quite like the new title, if indeed it is to be the new title. BUT if Mozz is to make any new fans and keep the old faithfull generally happy , not just here on this site, but everywhere, (I think) he should release 'I like u'.
The studio finished version will probably sound excellent. Its hard to judge on a fresh live version.

Its more 'up' than the other songs, more radio friendly, in the vein of other songs that were the first to be released from 'new' albums....ie) 'daganham dave' off 'southpaw', 'the more u ignore me' 'off vauxhall', 'our frank' off 'kill uncle', 'suedehead' off 'viva hate' , 'alma matters' off 'maladjusted'.
all these first single releases off each album were the most 'up' song off each album.

Ive played 'I like u' to a couple of non-Mozz fans
and they've both said 'hey thats not bad.
Upon hearing first in the gang, although I like it, they both agreed 'first in the gang' had a trudging plodding melody and mused where the song was going.......

Ive always thought 'I like u' could be a great flagship single for the new l.p. so wot do ya say mozz?

                                            p.s. loose that new title.
                                            o.k. so it means............
