Each year WOXY of Oxford-Cincinnati-Dayton, Ohio or 97X for those familiar with the movie "Rain Man", plays the top 500 modern rock songs in history. The rankings are culled from the station's 20 year history as an independent modern rock station and are determined by votes from their resident djs, listener requests and airplay. 97X is a pioneering station and highly regarded internationally for their ability to promote all forms of independent and alternative music types. They are a part of the consortium of twenty-nine radio stations that puts together the website www.collegeair.net

In this year's top 500 the Smiths placed three songs:

Girlfriend in a Coma #330
Bigmouth Strikes Again #201
AND
How Soon Is Now? #3

The rest of the list makes for interesting reading and can be found at www.woxy.com
