The following is the release details for "Under The Influence". I left out the tracklisting as that is available on Amazon.

VARIOUS -UNDER THE INFLUENCE MORRISSEY UTICD001UTILP001 CD DMC

DMC launch their new compilation series Under the Influence, which draws on the inspirations and all time loves of the world's greatest recording artists. Morrissey, the legendary Smiths frontman and solo-artist extraordinaire, provides this first unmixed selection of tracks.To make all those Morrissey fanatics out there particularly happy, he has written very in-depth sleevenotes (2000+ words!) explaining the stories behind his choices.The release will coincide with a Channel 4 documentary in May about Morrissey's influences.The album includes tracks from such respected acts as T-Rex, The New York Dolls, Ramones, Nico and even Diana Dors. It's a fascinating combination. All tracks also appear on the vinyl. The Sparks track 'Arts & Crafts Spectacular' is taken from a previously unreleased demo recording. This is the first time ever that Patti Smith "Hey Joe" has been available on CD. The next 'Under the Influence' will be compiled by The Stone Roses frontman, Ian Brown (July).

TV ADVERTISING : We hope to have an 'advert' in the credits to the Channel 4 documentary.

PRESS / RADIO PROMOTION : UK Press & radio will be handled by premier PR company Sainted. Cover story in Word already planned. Press already published in The Guardian and Mojo.

PRESS ADs : Mojo full page (15th May) Record Collector full page (29th May) NME quarter page box (28th May

TUBE ADs : A Quad Crown tube ad campaign across London will run from 26th May for a month.

PROMOTIONAL ITEMS : We plan to produce Under the Influence pint glasses and Under the Influence Morrissey t-shirts to give out to shops and press.

ONLINE PROMOTIONS : dmcworld.com banner ad / 3beat.co.uk homepage promotion / various Morrissey fan site promotions (morrissey.co.uk, morrissey-solo.com, morrisseytour.com, shoplifters.morrissey-solo.com etc).

DATABASE MAILOUTS : We will be using the extensive DMC international database, Update magazine subscriber's / info list for a flyer and E-card mailout.

      Dickon Edwards had a quite interesting LiveJournal entry [livejournal.com] recently on the phenomenon of officially-released celebrity compilations - including Morrissey's "Under The Influence" - and on the art of compilation-making in general.

      I literally can't think of anything I want more than to drink a beer out of a morrissey pint glass.

      It's nice to know there will be a decent promotional campaign for the album, unlilk Island's half-arsed efforts to promote 'Maladjusted'.
