Was Morrissey referring to the "Chasm" between your ears at the time? (Actually, I like Ian and Echo. Though I'm not crazy about his Jim Morrison fixation.)

He is just still frustrated that The Smiths got more success and critical acclaim than Echo in the 1980s. But the way he is handling his solo career could be a good example for Moz. He just loves making music and doesn't mind Rough Trade releasing his stuff. He is not too concerned about how much he'actually getting paid, and for an artist in his 40s I think that's not such a bad attitude.

"Prick" is all I have to say...

As a fan of both men's work I would like to provide an unbiased insight into their performance from a fans point of view. I had the pleasure of seeing Morrissey on the Oye Esteban tour in Portland Maine 2 years ago and I also was at the Psychedelic Furs/ Echo show last year in Boston Ma..
Morrissey: With flowing back drops and his signature intro music Morrissey took the stage with grace and style. He then proceeded to play through a set list that can only be described as amazing. His flailing arms whipped the microphone cord and the crowd into a complete frenzy. He looked great, he sang great and his band was as tight as they get. People were literally screaming for more in this little fishing city in coastal Maine.

Echo & The Bunnymen: Ian and band took the stage after a prolonged wait with little fanfare and no stage props what so ever. Not that he should depend on props but it is nice when a band puts in the effort. As Ian finished his first song and spoke a few unintelligible words to us it became clear that he was completely trashed. It was to the point where he almost fell down and was leaning on his mic stand to hold himself up. The band was great and they trotted on regardless of Ian's performance or lack of. Did I mention on stage Ian went through about a pack and a half of cigarettes. Overall my friends and I just thought he didn't care. That it wasn't about the music for him it was about getting through the show so he could have another drink. I am still a fan but would never see them live again. The Psychedelic Furs were completely the opposite and were amazing. You could see in their eyes how happy they were to be playing that night and how much they fed off the crowds energy.
End result: I would go and see the Psych Furs again in a minute (and had seen them just a few months previous to the echo tour).
I would fly anywhere to see a Moz show.

I've yet to read an interview with messr Mculloch where he hasn't had a snidey dig at a fellow popstar. He's just a bitchy old slag who was overrated in the first place- I never understood the fuss over Echo ATB, they were always the least interesting of the new wave Brit bands.

At least Mozzer puts people down in creative ways- Mac just insults people. Boring.

At least, unlike Moz, he's still capable of cranking out a good tune from time to time.

Nice to see you re-appear from Chris Martins arse, he's all echo these days, whats the point in having ago at Morrissey anyway these days....you're talking about a guy who's not taken seriously by the record industry anyway, never mind the music buying public, a cheap shot if ever there was one, haha i could've been talking about either of them there, so if you see Ian tell him to get back with the Coldplay lads and knock some more of that bland elton john-esque rock music out. As much as he'll deny it The Smiths eclipsed everthing the Bunnymen did, hence i liked them both both back then....so i'm in a position to comment.

Next time i hope Ian actually attacks a just cause, i mean have you seen all that s*it out there, instead he attacks one of the all time greatest frontmen,.....maybe Mac has been snorting a little too much lately, or maybe he should do a cover of 'jealous guy'!...you decide.

At least he's erudite. The only place I ever see McCulloch's name is in mags like Uncut that have a historical sense about music.
