i wouldnt be at all surprised if this sells quite a few copies due to the fact that some 'spuds will think this is Morrissey's new release and not just a handful of old obscure people that were supposed to influence him.

U know wot its like in a record store, the anticipation of the wait, then seeing something on the new release shelf.
The name Morrissey will be on the title and bang u've bought it.
This happened to loads of people when Morcheeba did their 'back to mine' compilation (with no Morcheeba tracks on it), the cover even looked like a Morcheeba album.
Morrissey u have to release something - "this story is old i know but it goes on" and doing a mix of your favourites is really laughable, sorry.
p.s. dont hang the dj , but get him in the bloody studio, now................

I'm glad there's a Bolan track on there, especially as its a Tyrannosaurus Rex tune rather than an obvious glam thing. "Great Horse" is fairly typical of his output at that time (1968-69); personally I would have gone for "Chariots of Silk", "Iscariot", or maybe "Seal of Seasons".

Tyrannosaurus Rex stuff tends to get overlooked in favour of the '70s rock stuff, but if you're unfamiliar with it why not give it a listen, its unlike anything recorded before or since really. It can sometimes be a bit of a culture shock! My personal favourite out of the four albums recorded is "Unicorn" - seek & enjoy!

I've never understood what's so great about these 'back to mine' CDs. Any mix tape will only apeal to the person who makes it; who cares what Morcheeba or Bernard Sumner sing along to in the shower?
It would have been much more interesting if Moz actually covered all these songs instead- A Moz reinterpretation of the Ramones would definately be worth hearing.
The Smiths covered (fairly successfully) Golden Lights and Work is a 4 Letter word, so why not?

Ok, I know some people are interested in this, but common, why are we being teased with a shit compilation when all we really want is some new material? I think this would have been a nice idea to do after he's released something of his own.
It's so frustrating, he's been involved in new relaeases of everything but his own new material in the past few years: Best Of's, covers, writing introduction notes, and now this!
Sorry but all this is starting to get bloody mental!

I can't wait for this,the majority of it will be new to me and I'm hoping it delivers the goods, my soundtrack of summer 03!

I am so happy mozzer put a sparks album on there. Brilliant music. I am very surprised he didn't include a Jobriath song or even a Monochrome Set tune. Maybe licensing?

Glad to see moz picked this great song! It's nice to know he listens to one of the more obscure greats! Makes this rockabilly loving moz fan happy!

I think I'll have to buy this album which I believe is out on May 26th (at least in the UK) because I'd feel like a traitor if I didn't.

But If it is to be REALLY successful I think Moz will have to ask us NOT buy it. That seems to be the only tactic that works.

Quite an interesting and lovely collection.

Charlie Feathers is amazing. Raw rockabilly that will bring you to your knees. Boz must've introduced his music to Morrissey. Anyone who likes that sound should seek out his records. (And of course by this comp!)

I've always been obsessed with "Trash" by The New York Dolls and with "Judy is A Punk" by The Ramones. Morrissey has excellent, excellent taste.

I've seen a few reviews for this in the press and they are pretty favourable (one was 8/10). So, you never know, could be good.

if you have lots of records and listen to a lot of music this isn't anything new... infact, a couple of these songs are so trendy at new wave nights it's not even funny...
