As long as Iīm concerned it is indeed true that Djalminha is a big Morrissey fan and I find it rather normal, letīs avoid stereotypes ok!? just because Rio is the land of samba it doesnīt mean a person cannot like good British music, just look at myself, I was raised listening to such fantastic groups like Smiths, Clash and Echo, going to the alternative side of the city and still find time to appreciate a good samba now and then.

Good music is universal, no matter where you come from, be it rock, jazz or samba.

I live in Spain, where Djalminha had played for several years. Once time, he ask to a TV programme "The boy with the thorn in his side" video, I knew Morrissey thanks to him. I was a huge fan of Djalma for then, he played on deportivo. He plays like Morrissey sounds. Totally magic. But the problem with him is difficult character and a bad relations with journalist (do you ring?).

with a lot of Steve Wells' comments about the flipping dismal and utterly joyless Radiohead and their ilk (Coldplay, Starsailors etc). Give me the cheeky girls anyday! I don't think he realises that people like me exist. A Morrissey fan who owns and loves every single Abba studio record. A Morrissey fan who bought the joyful 'Don't Stop Moving' by S Club 7. A Morrissey fan who generally hates miserable, humourless indie music.
So I agree with his general philosophy but obviously not the Morrissey stuff!
