      This is indeed a wonderful, albeit shocking result. But I'm wondering who the target audience for the Manchester Evening News is. For Morrissey to have 59% of the over-all vote leads me to believe that its audience is somewhat alienated, witty and depressed with a rather fay take on the world. I could be wrong.

      Manchester, please tell me whether or not this is anything to get truly excited over.

          I read there were some users of this site were connecting to the mancunian site all day to vote for Morrissey.

                        correct me if I'm wrong here (please) - Turing has more to do with AI than anything else in fact. True, he collaborated with some early projects like the Colossus, but Babbage (and Ada Byron) are credited as the creators of the idea of a computer and as far as the modern computer is concerned, well, we would have a problem even finding which was the first modern computer ever produced.
                        Now about the poll, I believe it is very hard to find the greatest personality in Manchester - I wonder what Tony Wilson would say about it :)

                          Is that Manchester is a massive city and everyone in Manchester will read this. The NME poll putting The Smiths as the most influential band ever will have been read by far fewer people than the Manchester Evening News.
