Is it just me or is Moz's voice getting BETTER w/ age?

I think I speak for the large majority of us when I say THANK YOU CRAIG!!! For a host of a network show to bring a guy on with no new album, no record company backing, and devote the time he did to bring Morrissey some well deserved and long-overdue public attention, thanks! Especially for those of us who live nowhere near the places Moz is touring right now, I'm still is disbelief over what I've seen the last two nights. For the first time in a few years, I feel real hope that new Moz material is on the way, there certainly is a buzz. Stay handsome...

Dear Friends- I was deeply moved by the performance! I felt the banjo was endearing and refreshing! I would DIE to hear it played by Boz in other songs as well- like Suedehead.

ALL of the band members looked STUNNING. I am upset and hurt by fans who have been criticizing the appearance of the band. They look very distinguished, handsome, and gentle- sweet.

He wears pretty shirts! I thought his voice sounded lovely, but I think the song would have been better had it not been slowed down. Like Ice Cube, many people have never heard of Morrissey, and I think if they'd heard the original version of the song they may have liked it more, but I cuold be wrong! I still loved it, but I am biased.

last time i saw moz on tv was when he performed on SNL. then tonite, having trouble falling sleep, watching craig, i was like, why he asking ice cube about morrissey and smiths. so i check this site, then i dropped my jaw, moz on TV? damn....good friday!

Well, having been blessed with the opportunity to watch both episodes, unfortunately not live at the taping, I have to say it was a most excellent interview on Thursday night along with the wonderful new, yet much to long in the hearing, song! I could have done without that moron Tom Green and his damn dogs though...lol

Friday's appearance was the ginchiest! I thought it was imminently cool of the Craigger to ask Ice Cube if he knew who Moz was, and it was equally cool of him to admit that he didn't! Most people would have most likely lied about it..lol

Anyways, had to express my joy at seeing Monsieur Melancholy even if it wasn't in concert...

First of all, the interview last night was absolutely amazing.. I wish, however, that Kilborn had a few slightly more substantial questions to asked him, it seemed almost like he was grasping at straws to come up with stuff to say, though it could have just been nervousness what with being around morrissey and all.. and i was pissed when he cut moz off re: the discussion of suedehead.. and did anyone wonder why he picked probably the least notable line in the entire song to ask him about? (Not that it's not brilliant, just seemed like an odd line to choose) ... and misquoting Everyday Is Like Sunday, eeeesh. But yeah, Craig Kilborn is totally the man for bringing him on the show, having him play twice.. asking Ice Cube about him.. I was kind of curious to see what Jessica Simpson had to say about Mozzer, as she struck me as one of the biggest idiots i've ever seen on television. Oh, and Ice Cube deals with samples all the time.. but he's never heard New Order? I mean i know it's two completely different scenes and all, but I bet dollars to donuts bernie sumner has heard NWA..

anyway, the performance of "First of the Gang" was rad, though I was wondering if anyone else noticed that it seems as though moz is tenuous on some of the vocal inflections, maybe because there hasn't been official recordings done of them yet so he's not as confident in his singing of them and thus in his vocal embellishment. It's not my favorite of the 4 new songs but i was excited to hear/see it performed.. I didn't like the lace up shirt. I think Moz's fashion was better during the Oye Estaban Tour.

Everyday Is Like Sunday was great.. but I noticed that it was played probably slower than even the recorded version.. that was a bit of a letdown.. that coupled with the slower live version I heard of "I Want The One..." is kind of bumming me out.. is Dean Butterworth unable to play fast? He seems kind of stiff (i.e., like the stiffest drummer i have ever seen, like a robot on a drumkit) .. it seems to make the music sound less energetic, as if the band is not keeping up with the passion of the vocals. I have a bootleg somewhere of Everyday... from I think the Kill Uncle days, where the song is played almost at circle-pit speed, i mean a real frenzied pace for such a normally slow song. So I hope the band starts speeding things up, or at least has some more newer songs that are less "ballad-ish".. that's not to say that those songs aren't fantastic, but I'd like the tempo to get mixed up a little bit. I think that's what's been striking me about the newer setlist.. yes, people always complained that he wouldn't play any viva hate/bona drag era songs before, and now he is and people are complaining.. but it seems as though the songs he IS choosing to play off those albums might not be the most engaging, or perhaps are just all along the same general lines when it comes to speed.. Little Man, What Now and Late Night, Maudlin Street are both pretty slow, and Alstasian Cousin, though it is one of my favorite songs, is mid-tempo and kind of in the same musical vein, this is coming off of Viva Hate which was an incredibly diverse album... so who knows. But I'm not trying to bag in the whole performance, of course I was glowing the entire time Moz was on the screen or was refered too (all the Moz references on TV seemed very unreal.) Moz looked a helluva lot better tonight I think than he did last night. I really, really.. arrrrrgh! hope that he makes it out to the midwest.. I only saw him once on Oye Estaban and had bad seats, i'd like to follow him to at least a couple different shows this time. Congrats to all who made it on Craig Kilborn, if i was there I might have rushed him on stage and goten kicked out (Remniscent of what I've heard about Fear's SNL appearance, with Ian Mckaye, etc.. all going off on camera!) Just my two cents!

I loved it!!! My favorite Moz song performed to perfection. And I LOVED that gorgeous pinstripe blazer. I always love a man in pinstripes. And the peasant shirt that he wore last night as well as at a few stops on the tour is really sexy.

I agree with what everyone's been saying about Dean. He really needs to get into it more. He sits completely still at the drum kit. But he's cute, though.

What time is/did the show run on Thursday and what time is it playing on Friday??? I'm confused, I thought he was on late night?

God, I hope there's a record exec out there who's stood up and taken notice of the reception Morrissey received the past two nights on Kilborn. The crowd's energy alone proves the demand for this man. It was electric, they were on fire and Moz is sounding better than ever.

It's a shame that he, a man of true talent, is without a record deal. For the world to be deprived of such art should be a crime!

The past two nights have definately been great to be a Morrissey fan. To hear him last night being witty and humourous was incredible. You forget it sometimes if you only hear him on CD but last night made me remember how much I miss him not being in the public eye. The new song last night was great. Considering he doesn't have a record deal I felt like he was auditioning for one. I hope he gets one and puts out a new album and a full tour. I am envious of those of you on the west coast. It is difficult to live back east now. He was in fine voice tonight as well. It is almost surreal to see him in any capacity. Just a great couple of nights.

morrissey is so beautiful. i love him. "everyday is like sunday" is one of the most perfect songs ever. his rendition was amazing - i love the addition of "when you're on your own." it made me think of the line "life is very long, when you're lonely." you'd think i'd be all morrissy-ed out. not even close, guys!

p.s. to the people who keep remarking on morrissey's leather shoes: read some of his old interviews at the arcane old wardrobe. he addresses this issue saying that he finds it "difficult to be ethical about shoes." furthermore, as i have already remarked in the general forum (under the name Mindy), many vegetarians do not shun leather shoes. that's vegan territory.

I want to thank Craig for inviting Morrissey to his show and giving the man such a buzz this week. Everything else Craig did this week (and probably everything he does every other week) was completely worthless. Most of the other guests were brainless, boring, and untalented. And even the non-Morrissey jokes were unfunny.

Morrissey's brilliant performances can outshine many lesser lights, but watching the man on TV this week was like watching a lone light in the complete darkness of current popular American culture. Let's hope that light never goes out.

Would someone be kind enough to fill me in on what,exactly, was asked of Morrissey and what his subsequent replies were? Sadly, I missed the show.

I've not actually seen the show/s being here in England but all in all it's sounding like he's pretty inspired again, hopefully this now signals the proper return of the great man, it's not been easy the last few years but finally it looks like our patience is to be rewarded....please, please, please let this be true and long may it last...

Seeing both shows, I was stunned. That is the most perfect performance of "Everyday Is Like Sunday." He sang so touchingly, and it lifted my heart with such a strength that no one else could ever achieve. Morrissey, you are The Love of my life.

How could no one in the audience rush the stage for either song.It would have made for great TV...

It was great. He did superb and what a great song as well. Too bad I missed the interview the night before. He is such a marvelous singer and he has great charisma. Thank you Morrissey for your wonderful talent.

I'm in Dublin so don't get the show over here. I downloaded the First of the Gang performance from Mrs.Shankly which took an age and a half.But it was worth it.The old charmers croon is as magnificent as ever and the song sounded much better than the audio only download I got a few weeks back.I thought he looked great as well.And the band were excellent.
Everyone seems to be predicting a big "comeback" for the man who has never really gone away for all of us.The London Times has a bit of guff about this in todays edition.Roll on album soon please!!!

was anyone else as touched as i was to see him come on the other night and refer to the fans as his "family"? he even wiped a tear. beautiful. also, he still has that schoolboy twinkle in his eye, that spark of intelligence and wit and inner beauty (as well as the obvious outer).

I absolutley do not, can not understand why Morrissey puts on those damn Paula Abdul, fat man suits. Those box suits are hideous. He was doing so fucking well. He was actually living up to Morrissey's name during the whole tour, and last night, for some ....reason....he decided to do a flash back in honor of early 1990's suits. Man those things are aweful.

The first night, I fell in love all over again. Put that has nothing to do with crappy suit!

It just made him look older and heavier. Oh well, he'll never learn.

Question for you all. Do you thing the recent publicity and buzz (kilborn) will result in more tour dates when he returns from overseas? I for one would love to see him play the universal ampitheater again, Oye Esteban Tour 2000, and if a record deal could be secured for sure a tour must follow!

Just want to thank Kilborn for getting the man on two nights of national today, great exposure and a true blessing for all of us fans.

First of all, a sincere thank you to Craig Kilborn for having Morrissey on his show for two nights. It's obvious that he is a big fan.
I also want to thank Morrissey from the bottom of my heart for not only performing, but agreeing to a somewhat lengthly interview. The music "business" today is indeed a sad state of affairs. Hopefully there will be a record executive out their with half a brain with will sign Morrissey. I too was touched when he referred to his fans as his family. The vocals were beautiful on both songs, although the instruments were softer on "Everyday is Like Sunday", so the vocals were much easier to hear and appreciate.

I have seen more of Our Man Mozz in 48 hours, than I have in 5 friggin' years! I take the opportunities as they come, so THANKYOU Kilborn, (even though you arent funny, and Conan is the best thing on late night!). You smoked him out, and regardless of the overall opinions of us Mozzites, it was sooooooo good to see Morrissey!!!

I anxiously awaited Moz on CK. I have never seen him on interview before. Ive always read about them in books or mags. I awaited patiently until 115am when he came on, my heart jumping out of my chest. It was like he was sitting in front of me.(Well I was sitting right in front of the screen) ~smile~ He was at the least extremely impressive and atractive. Although Ive never seen CK, his show is quite daft, and lacking any comprehensible humour. I cant really understand who watches this and why?
I finally pulled myself away from my video recorder. My thumb is numb from rewinding the interview over and over. I cant get enough of his voice, so melodious and fresh. As a member of
your "family" I must insist you visit NY very soon, its been too long. We miss you so.

magnificent performance! that's been my anthem for a while now. things are just so crummy and tedious and junk. but to see moz on tv...for the 2nd time..that was utter bliss. 3 to kilborn for getting him on the show.

Craig Kilborn is so cool for wanting Moz on his show.Morrissey looked so beautiful on both shows.I loved the interview before the performances.Morrissey was absolutely lovely during the interview it was so awesome to hear him refer to his fans as his family.I loved that he performed one of his new songs and Everyday is like Sunday was performed brilliantly.And Morrissey looked especially yummy performing it!

Well, I guess my review of Thursday's performance holds true for Friday's as well. It seemed like a parody of the song. I don't know, but I think I'm becoming seriously disenchanted with Morrissey. Time has not been kind to him. Morrissey should have died young, beautiful, and vital like James Dean, rather then drone on to become another fat, bloated, old caricature of his former self like Elvis did. However, I still will buy everything he releases and try to see him when he tours 'cause I remain a fan...believe it or not!

Comedy central is rerunning the SNL episode w/Moz on the 17th

It was the 1st time that I had ever heard of the guy. I got lucky too cause he was on a Friday so I could stay up and watch The Late Late Show cause I didn't have class at 8 in the morning!! Who made my schedual for college anyway.......................duh! But I was very lucky cause if he didn't come back for another show I probably still wouldn't know who he was. That song he did was amazing! Craig kept pumping him up and I was very confused, then he said Cult legend and that me think 80's. I think the 80's were big for Cult bands? I'm only 18 so I dunno, but I read Cult(as in bands) as underground bands with big followings but no one has heard of them. Well he is one of them only everyone should know of him. After his appearence on The Late Late Show I was off the next morning on a misson, find his CD's..............errrrrrrr still tyring to find some. Well I hope he tours on the East Coast sometime. I checked his old tours and it looks like once every 2 years or something he goes to New York City. Well I live in Syracuse so thats a long drive, but I think it would be well worth it!!! I guess I'll just have to wait. Maybe in the mean time I can get some of my friends hooked on him. It shouldn't be too hard!!!

I wasn't aware that he was going to be on Kilborn. I missed both shows, and am very upset! How can I get a tape? Is there anywhere to see them online? If anyone can help, PLEASE, let me know.

I smell a revival - about time!

Don't tell me no one noticed that good ole Moz seemed scared of Kilborn! What was with the way he seemed afraid to look at him and actually kept his body turned away the entire time? Then when Kilborn suggested they hang out sometime Morrissey actually seemed embarrassed! But he is witty and I liked his humorous reply, "Well, I'm available." So, *is* Morrissey truly available? When he said he's "very happy" I thought maybe that implied he had a boyfriend (I know a wonderful boyfriend is what would make *me* happy anyway!) Let's see, what else was interesting? That record execs need to be blown away, that was right on. Amen Moz! But when Moz questioned why companies keep playing so many commercials on TV that showed his ignorance about capitalism. Capitalism thrives only when manufacturers produce in excess. There for advertising in excess. But I think it's worse in America than England 'cos the only time I went to London I noticed the commercial time on their MTV (the only station I got to see) was nothing compared to here in the States. But I agree, I HATE THE COMMERCIALS. Let's see, the outfit, looked nice, but funny collar. I agree the hair was a bit funny, maybe that looks ok on a *younger* man (hint, hint.) I don't want to say anything mean about the aging process ('cos hell, I'm getting old myself), but we all know Moz is a sun worshipper, I wonder how devoted he is to sunscreen. But as for the songs, they were great! Vocally and musically. And I guess I'm one of the few who actually liked Dean's drumming. It was quite nice! I don't think drummers should go crazy; I like them when they're subtle or splashy. All a drummer really needs to do is keep a beat and include some nice fills! Ok, later dudes!

I have read several posts stating that boz and the boyz were inadequate for Morrisesy's standards. While freedoms of opinion are neccessary so other posters feel free to blast away, I feel as if the boyz are doing quite a fine job. The new drummer could use a little more spunk, he's probably nervous as hell being on tour and on national tv, he'll warm up.

Also, check out "Boz" during the end of everyday is like sunday on the kilborn show! When morrissey moves into "when your own your own," it is evident how proud he is for all the guys by the way he smiles while watching morrissey hit the last few notes and acknoweldges his band mates, great feeling. To me it seemed as if everything began blending back together again at that moment!

Hoprfully this is just the begginng in a resurgence of the mans career.

well, the first night was much better than the second. the new song, which i hadn't heard yet, was great. every time i go in a music store even though i know morrissey doesn't have a new album, well i look under his name anyway, longingly. i felt such anticipation. i was listening to someone singing an awful version of "policy of tructh" at karaoke night at the local gay bar when i realized i had 5 minutes to get home to catch the show, and i ran, which i am not accustomed to doing. i would have bawled had i missed it.
   
after such a long absence, i think Morrissey should come back with a triple-album. like prince's "emancipation," ony it won't suck.

hmmm... the second night? i could do without everyday is like sunday. i wanted to hear another NEW song. I need a fix, and I need a Morrissey song that I have to learn the lyrics to, not know them inside and out.
the banjo will take some getting used to. was that Boz? i didn't recognize anyone in the band except the bassist. i miss spencer, but only because he was SO cute.

I first of all have to consider myself extremely lucky to be one of the few to see "the man" live at the Craig Kilborn Show. Although I arrived very early, I wasn't guaranteed anything. There were about 200 plus people who were turned away.
I have never seen him live, let alone that close.
No one but Moz can pull such a performance! We filled the little studio with such enegy that if was apparent that 95% of were there to see Morrissey. This will definitely go down as one of my favorite personal memories.
