Just writing to let you all know that on Monday's Late Late Show, Craig Kilborn announced that Morrissey will definitely be on his show Thursday, September the 12th, where he will do an interview segment as well as perform. The very next day, he will return to do one song. I guess this is what 'Craiggers' has decided to do in response to all the requests for tickets to Thursday's show, instead of having it outdoors or in a larger studio.

Update: 09/10 16:45 GMT: "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn" airs on CBS, usually at 12:30 after David Letterman. The second song to be broadcast on Friday's show will be recorded on Thursday.

  • i cannot believe moz is playing twice.. i mean how many performers have ever done this, played the same late show, consecutive nights. moz continues to impress.

  • I doubt Morrissey will actually return Friday to record the next song. According to morrisseytour.com, both songs will be recorded on Thursday and Craiggers will air the second song the following day.

    Or WILL Morrissey return Friday?!?!!!???!!??!

  • I'm curious to know what everyone who watched Monday night's Late Late Show thought of the quality of exposure given to Morrissey. I, for one, was very pleased with Craig's attempt to characterize Morrissey as James Dean if he'd sung. I wasn't sure what to make of the subsequent sketch. I mean, one one hand, it was great exposure for the Best of Morrissey (which I think *is* a very nice compilation), but I was afraid that non-Morrissey fans tuning in would view it as a lampoon: rather like those fake Saturday Night Live commercials. Personally, I don't mind if someone characterizes Morrissey as morose or depressing, so long as it's someone on the inside, and not some ignorant chump on the outside. I came away believing that Craig is one of the good ones. :)

Kilborn's ratings suck, he's sexist and he's so very dimwitted he has trouble sputtering out why he even likes Morrissey. When he described him as "a guy from the 80s," I just cringed.

Do you know why he likes Morrissey? Because he thinks of himself as the coolest guy in the room. Well, Craig, thanks for having him on and all, but you're still not cool. You're a pretty dumb jock. Go back to SportCenter.

  • I think the little skit that Craig came up with for the Best Of Morrissey was in very poor taste. I took it as almost making fun of Morrissey and his music. Just my opinion of course. Any non Moz fan watching that would assume it was a comedy skit, which it was, and would think of Craig making fun of Morrissey. I think that Snoop Dog was halarious though. "he's sharp" snoop has no idea who Morrissey is. since I work early in the morning I haven't stayed up to watch Craig's show to see what he's been saying about Morrissey, but I think that skit was in very poor taste.

Anyways, after watching the first clip, I don't believe that Kilborn really even likes Morrissey. I think he's trying to get in first before anyone else and say "I was there when no one was supporting him, I was there first, I'm in the know" I'm not buying it. • ok, so I reluctantly turned on Craig just now to see if he would mention anything about Morrissey, and sure enough he did. He spent about 5 minutes describing to the "people of America" who he was and what he was like, in case they weren't familiar. He said witty things like "If James Dean's acting was transformed into music, it would sound like Morrissey", and "If Van gogh's ear were sitting in a cafe, smoking cigarettes..." etc. etc. He then went on to confirm that he was going to be interviewed on Thursday, and performing "Everyday is Like Sunday" on Friday.

"At least you're voice is better than Morrisseys - he sings, like 3 notes" -

She replied "How are you getting him to do your show, if you keep putting him down"

And he said something like "I'm not putting hiim down, his voice is just odd.. "

Umm, this doesn't seem like a good idea - first off... Anybody who has actually listened to Moz knows his voice kicks ass. Why anyone would put it down I don't know. But then, it's like, he knows Moz is sensetive about shit like that - Why would he risk it - I wouldn't feel good about coming on a show, where the guy just said my voice sucked (Which Craig basically said)

    Oh well..

I think he is too afraid to fully admit he likes morrissey, maybe it's an ego thing. Maybe he is afraid of losing his jock fans. But what he is doing now is his way of saying, Morrissey is awesome. I really don't think he would take the time to run morrissey down this whole week, because he doesn't like him. I think it is just his way of showing his appreciation for the man.

  • What REALLY Happened (Score:2, Informative)

O.K. I can’t comment on the Aimme Mann/3 – note thing (because my VCR cut it off) but I just watched my copy of last night’s show on my lunch break and it was hilarious!! Everything in quotes doesn’t mean word for word but real close.

The skit at the beginning that has been referred to (and maybe someone will transcribe it officially) was great! Craig got this happy look on his face as he sat down at his desk and said something like “not to jump ahead but on Thursday, we’re going to have Morrissey.” He asked the audience if they knew who Morrissey was and some clapped, and he said, “that’s what I thought…just a few of you.” He then tried to describe Morrissey and his music AND do a comedy skit trying to one-up his “If James Dean’s acting we’re music, it’d be Morrissey.” He then gave three more…all while “Everyday is Like Sunday” playing loudly in the background.

1.) If Van Gough’s ear were sitting in a French café, smoking, while raining, it’d be listening to Morrissey.

2.) Morrissey’s music evokes the kind of loneliness only a man who hosts a late show at 12:30am on CBS could know.

3.) (this one I hardly remember except for the end) Morrissey’s music is great, meaniful etc. etc “and it might make you look sensitive and get you laid or, at least, a few phone numbers.”

Again, I didn’t see the Aimme Mann thing but since everyone else have given false impressions of what was aired, I bet he said it SARCASTICALLY!! It is only the basis of Kilborn’s entire line of humor. He’s a sarcastic comedian!!! And it’s so obvious he loves Morrissey…airing him twice, talking about him so much, etc. Do Morrissey fans really not have a sense of humor. I’m a HUGE fan and laughed my ass off.

As far as Kilborn being a “jock” or “jock-like” there are some of us who like sports and T & A…deal with it people!

  • That's what Late Night Show hosts do.. They make fun of people, even their guests. Maybe a lot of Morrissey fans are just totally incapable of humor. I know in my group of friends, we poke fun at each other all the time, there's never any kind of meanness when what we say, that's what late shows are like.

Late Show hosts poke fun at their guests all the time. It's what they do. You all need to grow some skin on your backs, the late show is a comedy show, not some serious show.

Everytime Craig mentions Morrissey, someone says, "who?" and tries to find out who he is.

Humor is something many of you seem incapable of.

  • I'd like to see all you "cool" people, who are so able to make fun of people who you think are so uncool, like Kilborn based on other posts in this thread.

It's really annoying seeing everyone bash someone who is obviously a die-hard Morrissey fan.

It seems as if a great number of people on this site, seem to think that Morrissey is only someone they relate to, and no one else, god forbid someone you don't approve of likes Morrissey, and expresses their adoration in different way.

Fact is Kilborn is giving YOU FANS something you'll prolly never see again. You people are so ungrateful it's disgusting. I have been coming to this site since it's inception really, and over the last couple years, I have been extremely annoyed at how you all treat other Morrissey fans.

It's like you all wanna bring Morrissey down with you, some band covers a Morrissey, or Smiths song? Some of you just bash the shit outta the band.

Hello?! We all like the same person, why have such animosity towards someone you don't even know, but you know they atleast have one thing in common, a love of Morrissey.

yah that makes perfect sense. Don't go on a show that is giving you more exposure to the US then you could have EVER hoped for, esspecially when you have no label.

Yah I'm sure Craig really thinks Morrissey can't sing, that's why he is giving him two songs, on TWO NIGHTS, and an interview, all of this with NO LABEL. I don't think Morrissey could be anymore lucky with this.

I hope your post was sarcastic, cause if not, I think you may need to hang yourself.

  • Here's what was said-

(in the midst of praising Aimee Mann's voice)
CK: Your voice. Well, it's better than Morrissey's voice. Morrissey's, Morrissey's 3 notes.

AM: How are you getting him to come on your show while insulting him?

CK: I'm not insulting him. I'm celebrating his oddness. (and he was being serious as far as I could tell)

And I think he was trying to praise Aimee Mann rather than putting Morrissey down. Actually, it seemed more like he was at a loss of how to properly describe how Morrissey sings and just spat it out.

Kilborn plays the smarmy, jock as a ROLE. It is double funny because half the audience thinks that it is real, while the other half gets the joke.
