Strange News item from Portland Mercury (Aug. 22, 2002).

THE MOZ VERSUS THE NUGE

Excerpt:
Due to the well publicized and bilious hatred between intelligent pop godhead Stephen Morrissey and NRA rocker Ted Nugent, it is with great irony that each of them shall play in Portland this week--at the same venue, to boot...

The only time I can remenber Ted Nugget and Morrissey being put in the same sentence was way back when - when I advised some gulliable fellow Morrissey-solo reader that they should buy the then current issue of National Rifelman - with the column written by Morrissey that detailed a bow hunting trip, Ted and him had gone on.

Needless to say there was an unexplained spike in National Rifleman that month.

But my real question is how come I wasn't hired as a consultant for this article?

Amazing how much things can change in just a decade. Of course, I remember thinking when I saw the Boy Racer video that the make-up intended to make him look beaten up instead functioned to make him look 60 or so. The transformation was both jarring and torturous.

Every time I used to hear that inane "Cat Stratch Fever" on the radio, I'd wish a cat would stratch his eyes out. And I'd gladly rip out his vocal cords. Normally, it takes a lot to push my buttons; but Ted, you're dead.
