In other words: 6000 Moz-apostles in Europe and the UK is not that great. Certainly not great enough to lure the record companies I'm afraid.

Mike Joyce states on the Q&A board of his web-site that he's never seen Morrissey play live (as an audience member) but that he is going to watch him at the Albert Hall. He doesn't say which date.

Keep your eyes peeled folks, although if I were him after 'Sorrow...', I'd go in heavy disguise.

I can't wait to see Morrissey next month and I don't really care who he signs to or when he finally gets an album out if ever again. Looking at the current setlist it doesn't seem like the sort of approach someone who needs to make an impact with record companies would go for. Four new songs and a heavy reliance on his debut solo album? Hardly going to make any big label take notice, ah well. Roll on September.

Of course the Albert Hall gigs will sell out if they are the only UK ones he's doing. Why the hell can't he do a proper tour of the UK?

The problem with Moz is he does NOTHING to broaden his appeal beyond hardcore fans. He keeps the same band, the same style, the same type of music. If he bothered to look at how Bowie keeps at the top, he would see that a little innovation goes a long way. Also he would see that turning out the odd commercial album (eg 'Lets Dance') then enables you to release uncommercial albums (eg 'Outside).

Morrissey needs to stop asking for so much money and get signed. His music means nothing to people under 25 and unless he gets some records out it never will.

I got my tickets through the box office ( over the phone ), however so far thay have not arrived on my doormat.

The fault lies where it always has -- with an industry that promotes only genre, market-researched disposable pop, with North American radio which plays only market-tested disposable pop, and with the degraded tastes of the public which grew up in such an environment.

Morrissey is an artist. He's a genius. He's not a fucking advertising company, asking his promotional department to give him a new style and sound to reach a bigger public. What should Picasso have done to prevent market erosion? How should Chet Baker have changed his approach to reach a younger generation?

Either Morrissey doesn't yet want to release an album (who can blame him?) or he can't get the big deal he desires. Let's hope whatever happens, however long we have to wait that the record is the winner. By this I mean that lyrics are incisive, imaginative (with none of this constant theme repetition) and powerful, the music is topnotch (imaginative, skilled and varied) and everything gels (how about some decent cover art for a change?). The key to this is good producer (not Lilywhite). How's about Johnny Marr, John Cale, Kevin Shields or even Herr Bowie (now that would be something, wouldn't it?). Love Ya, bye.

Morrissey was planning a full scale european tour with the hope of having a new record to promote, since this has not materialized he scaled it down. This current tour is to his raise his profile as an artist and let people know that he's still around....but unsigned?. When a new record deal is done and a new album is in the shops he'll do a full scale tour of the States, the U.K and europe, please don't lose faith, the album will be worth the wait!

I think I should say a humble thanks for the early warning re: the RAH gigs. Got my tickets this a.m.(phoned RAH direct) and given the less than timely advertising, this site pushed me in the right direction well before the tickets selling out. So thank you!
The tickets do have the usual 'no cameras...' warning, but I'll have a go - I'll risk walking funny past security for a few momentos :)

someone have pity on me!!!! i am a 17 year old girl and if i could have one wish it would be to have been born earlier so i could have had the chance to see The Smiths play live! As it is i was born in 1985!!!!!! I became a fan in 1998 and was over the moon when, in 1999, he announced a tour in the uk!!!!!! I rang up to get tickets as soon as they went on sale but the stupid woman on the other end said i had to be 18 to go!!!!!! Being 14 i would never have been allowed in!!!! Now this time around uk dates are announced and all the standing tickets sold out while im on holiday!!!!!!!!! i cried when i found out!!!!! i managed to get crappy seating tickets and i AM happy and excited that i am going but i soooooo badly want standing tickets so i can go right to the front and touch him!!!!!! This could be my only opportunity!!!!!! If there are any young english fans out there then contact me!!!!! i need a morrissey fan friend desperately-im going to see mozza with my dad!!!!!!!!!!

If Morrissey does not make an album between today and tomorrow, I will die!!!
