The Durutti Column release THE RETURN OF THE SPORADIC RECORDINGS this summer. It includes the song FOR STEVEN PATRICK ("with love and affection" say the sleevenotes)

The Durutti Column is Vini Reilly, who played guitar on Viva Hate.
It's a limited edition of 2500 copies and is released on Kooky records - PO Box 5188, Northampton, NN1 4ZA, UK

Naming a song with this title is the easy way to be sure of selling the 2500 copies. This song (1'35") is widely available by illegal means.

Morrissey could have done a lot worse than kept Vini Reilly for at least another album. For any younger Morrissey fans out there buy the first two Morrissey singles and listen to quality of the guitar work on the b-sides(Hairdresser On Fire,Sister Im A Poet,Will Never Marry,I Know Very Well.... etc). Vini is widely regarded as the finest guitarist from Manchester or at least the most talanted, if he and Moz had stayed on and made another album together it would have been a true bona fide classic. Much respect to Marr,Gannon,Nevin,Boorer & Whyte but I still feel Vini was most gifted guitar player that Moz ever worked with. Its a crying shame the world at large and even Vini didnt realise his potential.

he was indeed the best of moz's collaborator's in my opinion. i encourage anyone who is not familiar with him to pick up a copy of durutti column's "LC". it was their second record and my favorite of them. one of my favorite's ever really. you may have to import DC albums but they are worth it and can be found at amazon.co.uk.
