I'm not saying it because he is playing with a Spanish rock band (btw, I'm Latin too and DO love Spanish bands like LBV), I'd say EXACTLY the same if it were B&S, Hefner or EVEN Jonathan Richman!

He is Morrissey, a legend, the man who wrote some of the best lyrics (the best ones IMHO) in pop history and now He's SUPPORTING a second-class band.
This is not about being racist; it's about having good taste and DIGNITY as an artist.

Eye Kicker, let me explain to you: "racist" person is not necessarily a white KKK member and/or participant at some weird and crazy cross- torching ceremony in front of Black or Asian or Jewish-owned house at some white-Protestant-dominated area. Racist is a person (like you), who thinks that races have to be separated, both geographically and culturally, who believes that races are meant to be kept pure and race-mixing is a crime. Pay attention here, racist could be White (like Hitler or ex-Republican Presidential candidate Buchanan or Frenchman Le Penn or you), racist could be Black (Louis Farrakhan of Chicago Black Muslim Movement). Back to you: statement of yours "Moz, please stay White", illustrates that you are a racist.

Also, Spanish-speaking people could be not only Indian-Aztec origin, but White, Black, Asian, Jewish, Slavic, Palestinian/Arab, mixture of 2 or 3 or more races etc... I have Slavic-Jewish relatives in Argentina (some of them inter-married with Catholics), for example. Majority of Mexicans and Argentinians are of Indian-Aztec and Spanish ancestry, however many Argentinians have Italian grandparents, there are millions-strong Jewish, Arab and Japanese communities at Chile, Columbia and Argentine, quite a few of Latin Americans have Slavic ancestors from Russia and Poland. Which makes your statement of "staying white" especially idiotic... Latin peoples are of many races! As a matter of fact, Morrissey well-known love of Mexican culture is natural and easily-explained: Both Irish and Mexicans are Catholics, with all the good, wonderful and not so wonderful things this common heritage entitles. The wonderful things are Creativity and Spirituality, love for Jesus and certain idealism the Catholic culture brings into the World. The sad things are social inequality and well-known discrimination against women and gays in both Ireland/England and Mexico. That's why it is easy for Mexican-American Catholic schoolgirl to identify with the plight of Manchester Irish bisexual artistic schoolboy ('lil Steven circa first half of 1970s), who is bullied by his well-meaning, but strict and dogmatic Catholic school teachers and nuns! ('Meat is Murder' album.) Struggle with cultural and social repression of Catholicism, romanticism, spirituality, poetry traditions, anti-imperialist struggle against British empire [for Irish] and against white America imperialistic tendencies [for Mexicans], being an "underdog", all those things are common for Irish and Mexicans. I'm not a Catholic, I'm Jewish, yet Moz appeals to me because his appeal and art are Universal by nature and cuts through religion and race borderlines. Yet, his thing for Mexican culture is very logical and understandable for me. "Esteban, not Steven tour? Why not! I'm not a racist, I'm Cosmopolitan." I think this is a normal reaction of a "white" Moz-fan, but again the whole "white-race" concept is very shaky by itself!

Speaking about Jaguars, I enjoy Jaguares, I like Caifanes (the "motherband" of Jaguars) a lot, especially 2 their albums I own: el Silencio (1992) and another one with dark photo of all four of the Mexican lads: Saul Hernandez, Diego Herrera, Markovich etc... However, I'm not sure that this info (Jaguars & Moz touring together) is true. Like, some people would say (not racists, just normal people), if there is a sea battle ship, there ought to be only one Captain, not two or three. However, if Moz and Jaguars would be able to mix it together smoothly, cheers for both of them! Of course, I (and 99.9% of others) would go!

Bottom line, Eye Kicker, you kicked yourself in the eye right now! And, cheers for all normal Mozfans of all races and religions!

Hi, Moz-arella. I never have seen Moz at Europe, I'm not that rich to go to Europe... alas. I think it is unfair to say his US shows from last Esteban Tour were all "hysterical". Moz US shows like people are all different.

#1) His San Diego show (December 1999) was very pleasant and laid-back, Cox Arena had reasonable good acoustics, people were friendly and polite. My friend wanted me to show him Hillcrest scene and we got loaded aftershow... as usual... :-)

#2 and #3) OK, his 2 LA shows (December 1999) were CRAZY, BABE! :-) Somebody got stubbed at first show... Lot of pushing and shoveling and kicking near the stage... :-) Yet, I was lucky to meet many cool people there nevertheless, some of them Orange County, some of them Angelenos. Moz had a good time at LA and was in good shape, but venue (at Sunset Blvd) was too small and shitty (space or lack of it and awful acoustics), people were suffocating near the stage, security were bunch of dickheads, sorry for my French. Yet Moz and fans were mostly cool, except near the stage. Overall, I had a "swell" time, as people of Jazz age would say! LA didn't succeed to ruin those two shows for me and my friend, even if City of Angels tried very hard... :-) Me and my friend had a lot of fan and, not that we are proud of that, we did our own share of craziness there: drinking beers from brown bags, pushin' and screamin' for the sake of good times! When at LA, do as Angelenos do! Right? :-)

I remember, after second show, we (me and my friend) decided to let a good time roll and went to Rage to celebrate Moz, ourselves, and drink some more...
So imagine a picture: me in Moz aka "Maladjusted" tour T-shirt and dirty weared Levi jeans, drunk... with my head on the bar... my black-leathered friend is ordering his 9th long I-land ice-t. My friend (on Hebrew): "Where am I?" Me: "USA. LA. West Hollywood. You are f*cked man, you need some grass to wake up. Everybody must get stoned..." My friend (to me): "You, ugly schmuck, do you love Morrissey... I love him" (sobbing) Me: "I love him too..." (drinking up another Absolute shot) Some Gucci-clad disco-boy Rage patron looking at us with horror: "Ouch, those guys are drunk. Yuck... " My 200-pound 6 foot tall friend responce (with his trademark thick Israeli accent): "I'm not your bitch, don't hang your shit on me". Oh, Madonna Golden Oldies... Next day morning was a time to pay for yesterday fun... I called my boss telling him I'm sick of dangerous form of flu: alcohol-induced Mozfluenzia... Drank a lot of cold sobering-up lemonade to prepare myself for Ventura trip.
 
#4) The best show was at Ventura 2 days later... Very intimate spirit, Moz at his absolute best, nice city with perfect medium-size venue, wonderful peoples... I was told by some "veteran" of Moz touring, that Ventura show was one of the best ever... I was without my friend at Ventura (his boss didn't let him play hookie from his job, alas), but with very nice and square Mexican-Catholic girl (not girlfriend, just Moz-friend :-)), so no more drinking at Ventura after the show, just coffee and muffin... :-) Nice and quiet. To be 100% honest, I missed my friend at Ventura aftershow a little bit... But Catholic girls are so damn strict. Like nuns. And I confess, I'm not a monk :-)

#5) 2000, March, Irvine, Orange County was only OK, too many screaming 16-year-olds, too impersonal, Moz looked a little tired... Still it was worth seeing him... Aftershow, Irvine "mainstream" sports bar was good to me and my friend up to the point, except he suddenly started fighting 3 OC rednecks over their remarks about his "faggot" leather pants... They would probably kill us, but bouncers saved us, and then those same bouncers kicked us out, so we had to drive to Fire Iseland at Long Beach to nurse our wounds there. Hey, no fight, no good time, right? That's my 5 times seeing Moz.

Again, Moz US shows like people are all different. (Aftershows are all different too! With different drinks consumed...)
