Mikel Erentxun, was the lead singer of one of the biggest rock bands from Spain in the late 80's named Duncan Dhu. In 1992 Mikel began his solo career. Mikel is a big fan of Morrissey and has recorded Spanish versions of two Morrissey songs. The first song he recorded was "Esta luz nunca se apagará" (There Is A Light That Never Goes Out) and the second song recorded was "Todo es igual siempre" (Everyday is like Sunday).

Morrissey, the English born singer who now lives in Los Angeles arrived just before Mikel was scheduled to go on stage at a club in Los Angeles on May 5th. Minutes before the show began Morrissey was introduced to Mikel Erentxun. Morrissey told Mikel he really liked the Spanish version of "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" and thanked Mikel for doing the cover. Mikel responded by thanking Morrissey for writing such great songs.

This was the first time Morrissey and Mikel had ever met!

            70s L.A private detective Jim Rockford, the current likeness is uncanny. Although this reference will be wasted on most of you as The Rockford Files was a rubbish dectivie drama that was repeated on BBC 1 a few years ago after Neighbours, at around 2pm. Oh and I wonder was Morrissey influenced any by his old deceassed pal Kirsty MacColl to go latin, just before her death Kirsty had emersed herself in latin musical culture and this lead to a new lease of life on her 1999 album. Hopfully Moz will do the same as I would be very interested in a latin tinged new Moz album, I feel the Moz needs a slight new musical direction to get the creative juices flowing again and why not a latin direction, this is not to say I didnt enjoy the last few Moz albums, its just that they lacked the wit and wisdom of previous Moz/Smiths albums.               The Guy in the middle is Howie D from the Backstreet Boys. Howie wanted to meet Morrissey because they need a new Backstreet Boy because B-Rock,Kevin, and Nick just kicked AJ out of the band because he got drunk at some golf event.

                Mikel Erentxun is amazing. His music is so good. I wish he would record an English album. I don't know Spanish but his voice and music are brilliant and certainly you can pick up the Moz influence.

                        If you look hard enough at the picture it kind of seems likes Moz and Mikel are cardboard stand ups and that the dude in the middle is holding them up. Also take note that Mikel's eyes are red and everyone elses eyes in the pics aren't kind if weird.

                            If you look at the picture on the MundoRocko site or whatever, it is a different photo. Moz looks much more comfortable, and Mikel has his arms folded differently. I don't think Javier is photoshopped out. But I do think Moz is weirded out by him in the initial photo.

                              I was at the Mikel show at the El Rey Theater on sunday and before the show started the speakers played a couple of Morrissey songs, I suppose chosen by Mikel. It was funny though listening to the crowd chanting "I'm so sorry" (Suedehead)at Mikel's concert.

                                My God! Doesn't the man own anything else? He's worn the same clothes for years and years. Maybe he needs to hurry and record a new album so perhaps he could buy something new to wear. I am sick and tired of seeing him in the same old crap. Does he have no friends who could help him in the fashion sense, or are all his friends young little rent boys who get off on being with an old looking bum?
