posted by davidt on Monday April 15 2002, @08:00AM

According to MorrisseyTour.com, "Inside sources say that after an exhaustive search Morrissey has finally picked a new drummer. His name is... Dean Butterworth." More details/photo at MorrisseyTour.

Archived Q&A transcript (World Without Borders, Jan. 2001 (?)). Image from SWER (Ben Harper site):

Dean Butterworth is thanked in the The Best of Morrissey track notes so probably is not the result of the recent classified ad in the LA Weekly.

This guy looks bad and other than Ben Harper appears to have bad taste in music in terms of the Mozzer universe. Not to mention the hair, maybe Moz wants to shore his locks to make a wig for himself. Have to wait and see I guess, but not much good news from the Moz camp these days. You'd think Boz'd know someone more appropritate.

Apperently, we are perfect and can feel free to judge you by your appearance without knowing you. We also seem to have the right to judge you because of other artists you have played with to support yourself without really knowing the first thing about your ability. I, for one, welcome you with open arms and am certain you were chosen due to the fact that you are a talented drummer. Imagine, actually choosing a drummer based on ability rather than hairstyle, musical taste, or nationality!

He will also be playing in the upcoming gigs, though my understanding he is not a "permanent" member of the band. And by the way, he's cut his hair.
