"These Charming Men" to perform at this years' Smiths/Morrissey Convention Weekend... I just wanted to remind everyone that "These Charming Men" ( from Dublin Ireland ) will be coming back to L.A. on April 27th & 28th to play both nights of the Smiths/Morrissey Convention.

This will be the only chance to see them in the U.S. this year. If you have any song requests for the band, e-mail them to: Mozconv@aol.com ( or call 714-778-4966 )... I hope everyone gets to see the guys from Dublin... They were truly amazing last year!!

I, for one, can attest for These Charming Men. I had the pleasure of seeing at last years convention and they were very impressive! Great tribute band! Must see to believe!

These Charming Men don't get out to our side of the pond so this is a rare opportunity to see their tribute set. Their love of Morrissey and The Smiths absolutely shows in their renditions. Cheers, Richard.

Cover bands are lame, and I'm spending my time and money that same weekend at Coachella seeing the real stuff - Oasis, Pete Yorn and Siouxsie.

Saw these guys last year and the Hooligans in prior years and I'm sorry but "The Convention Is Dead" is my 2 cents. The overpriced records and bad copied t-shirts at the convention is the icing on the cake to my decision this year.

Oooh, how excited was I to get first dibs on my ticket however many months ago that it was that the flyers got mailed out... I mailed my order straightaway only to find out that Coachella was the same weekend... And I didn't have to buy my Coachella ticket, so there'd be no excuse for passing it up... But now I'm sad I won't be able to rock out to my favourite sounds all night and maybe even muster the courage to get up and try my Morrissey lyric knowledge...
Oh, well... You'll all have to enjoy it for me... And if you know anyone who wants ta buy a ticket... Send me a mail, because I've already got the ticket there on my shelf, taunting me everytime I walk by.

As long as I've got other better things to do that I am procrastinating from, I might as well tell my sad sad story of how my luck with these things has been terrible. The first convention, I begged my sister day and night to let me go. My parents were okay with it, and I had just enough money to buy a ticket, but she didn't want me to go, so I stayed home whilst she gave Andy roses. The next year, I had a ticket, and all was set to go. Then my parents, being their cruel, erratic selves, decided I shouldn't go, for no apparent reason. My sister took her friend instead, who won the major prize of the night, the gold everyday is like sunday record, with my ticket. The next year I hooked it up to go both nights, but then my sister convinced me to let her go on the Morrissey night, so I only got to go the first night. The night was, admittedly, the best convention night I've been to, despite the fact that the people who went with me didn't really dig on The Smiths as much as I would have liked, and a minor misunderstanding between Jay and I, and of course, I didn't get to go to the second night. The next couple of years, I had to work or couldn't find rides, or forgot about it until it was too late. So last year, I got to go again. It seemed perfect enough, work shifts covered in the nick of time, rides to both nights, no problem. The first night I went with my then boyfriend... He wasn't really into it, and he didn't like dancing, so I had to restrain myself, which was sad, because that's the best part about the conventions, I think. So we got there late, left early, and didn't have a very good time in the process, though These Charming Men really rocked my world... The next night my initial ride fell through, but I got one of my friends from the 99 convention to go, and she almost died from being trampled (as was the case at the 99 convention) because of the stupid f*cking moshers. Who moshes to such gentle, thoughtful music?! Shame! Anyway, all in all, last year sucked for reasons other than the general idea of the meetup.
Now we come full circle to my current tale of woe. Somethin about those crazy conventions just don't sit right with my psyche, I guess...

But you kids have fun anyway. Thanks for reading to the end. You must be really bored.
