Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys) mentions Morrissey on Radio4

Neil Tennant while being interviwed on the Radio 4 programme "Front Row", mentioned Morrissey while talking about the new album "Release"
The song in question, "Love is a Catastrophe" Neil thought the song could be sung by Morrissey....and said that the Pet Shop Boys were never as bleak as the Smiths. Johnny Marr plays on 8 of the 10 tracks on the new album which is released on April 1st.

    Expect a surprise! (Score:0)
I actually have a copy of the new PSB disc. It has been released for some time in various parts of the world. I got mine from Ukraine!
Anyways, PSB fans can expect a pretty big surprise. Gone are the dancey, club hits and they have been replaced with somber, mellow, tunes of emotion. While there are a few upbeat numbers, most of it is slow. I am sure this is part of what Johnny brought although if he has written these 8 songs, I really expected more. Some songs are very good but most fall short of what I expect from PSB and Johnny. Neil still sounds great though!

      Miserablism (Score:0)
The pet shop boys b-side "Miserablism" was written about Morrissey. If you have heard this song then you would probably know that Neil Tennant does not want to collaborate with Morrissey. Who would want to anyway, especially after what we heard about Morrissey's arrogance during the "Interlude" session. And by the way I am way more excited about the upcoming PSB shows than the Morrissey tour rumours. PSB will be touring the USA in May. I am going to see Boz tonight. We'll see what he has to say about a Morrissey tour.

Morrissey has hung out with one of the lowest scums of the Music industry, Courtney Love. So the above comment is bullshit. Plus I highly doubt Boz would waste his time comming to this site especially when he has to prepare for his gig tonight at the club fais do-do. I would say that Neil Tennant does not want to hang out with Morrissey. The song that he wrote was probably a whinnney song and Tennant made a joke saying that it sounds like something Morrissey would do. Morrissey hasn't put out shit since 97', Pet Shop Boys have put out a great album 'Nightlife' in '99, and are releasing a new album this month. At least they still are putting out good material that pleases their fans rather than just being a lazy ass in LA. They also have managed to maintain a working relationship with Johnny Marr for the past 12 years. Another thing Morrissey couldn't accomplish. I beleive The Smith's only lasted 5 years.

As for the new album: You're wrong in saying it has already been 'released' in places like Ukraine. It has, however, already been bootlegged there and everywhere else for that matter. If you have bought a copy, I am afraid you have bought an illegal copy which you might as well have downloaded from the internet. The official release date is April 1st.

The review in Q Magazine calls this 'At last: The new Smiths album' :)

This is just a weird hunch that I thought of today. Last year the Pet Shop Boys postponed their "all gay"tour because Sinead dropped off at the last minute. They plan on re-launching it this year. Is it just a coincidence that PSB and our boy Moz will be in the States at the same time? Wouldnt it be great if this is the year he comes out in public and joins the stage with PSB. This may be a wild dream, but........
