"How Soon is Never?" by Marc Spitz - fictional novel to be published (Fall 2002)

This Fall, Three Rivers Press/Random House will publish "How Soon is Never?", a novel by Spin writer and Smiths obsessed playwright Marc Spitz ("Shyness Is Nice"). The book is a fictional account of two fans who try to reunite the band. Spitz has done extensive research to prepare for this weird bit of fan fiction, and has interviewed three of the four ex-Smiths (excluding Morrissey). This, of course, is not for any lack of trying. If any Morrissey-solo readers have any solid, or at least unusual leads on the best way to secure an in-person interview with him, please e-mail MS at Markyspin@aol.com. Thanks everyone.

    I thought Everyone knew that the easiest way to interview Morrissey is to wait for him outside of his house.

    Shyness is nice was a great play--it was a great feeling to actually see a show where the characters were wearing smiths shirts & referring to smiths songs.
    Additionally, the play itself was hillarious.
    I am really looking forward to Mark Spitz' book.

        ..tell me that you'll probably have to limp by on 3 interviews. especially now that you've revealed that you've spoken to the others.

        also, do publishers really pay for that sort of thing? i don't mean that as a mean question as it could be a fabulous book, but it seems like a very obscure topic.

          "How Soon Is Never" really is quite an appropriate title for your book.

          I don't know, maybe it's me, but it seems that Morrissey really isn't interested in any kind of Smiths related subjects. In fact, I think he's even said so. So, if you really wish to have an interview with Morrissey then I must agree with the others...go sit on his front lawn (though I personally hope you don't - I've never agreed with that sort of thing). Or perhaps you could frequent some of the clubs in Hollywood where he is spotted often in the VIP section, of course in hopes of NOT being bothered.

          But, if you do go to his house just beware of THE CAT.

            Aren't all novels fictional? Granted, you occasionally see novels that are historical novels, but they're still fiction. A novel must necessarily be fictitious. "Fictional Novel" is redundant.

                Puleez. We dont need this. Why is it that all recent Morrissey books are idiotic things - "fictional stories", analysis of his sexuality, a load of old photos, rhubarb, rhubarb.

                Joanne Rodent's The Severed Alliance was ten years ago now. David Bret's book - Landscapes For The Blind - was shit. Isn't anybody going to write a "PROPER" book on Morrissey or the Smiths anymore, one with like INFORMATION and researched FACTS instead of fictional mumbo jumbo?

                That Morrissey would write his own book. Of course we wouldn't know if it was fiction or based on factual events, but at least it would be something in his own words.

                Offtopic, but.... hey DavidT, was this [216.86.192.26] a cancelled show Morrissey was suppose to have?

                It appears that this was posted by you on Sunday, January 27, 2002 @ 6:59PM [216.86.192.26]. Was he really suppose to play the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 21? If so, what happened?
