great story about morrissey. but i'd love to hear more about peter hogg and for that matter, jake. there has to be somewhere they went on record about their time with him. i know that everyone in morrissey' band hates hogg, but why?

Mr. Nevin seams like a really nice and greatful guy. The story of him and Andrew Parisi laughing nervously while watching/hearing Morrissey sing in studio for the first time is priceless. It is good to know that Morrissey has a fan in a former collaborator and that not everyone who works with him takes a shot at him.

I love hearing the storys about those good old times. There have been some pleasant things to read on this site for a change, mostly the things that don't deal with current events. I wonder how things might have been different if Nevin would have chose to go on tour with Morrissey. I do love the band Morrissey ended up choosing. I was sad when Gary Day departed for a while but I am glad that he is back. I wish he would bring his stand up bass back also. Loved the story. Thanks for posting it.

I wonder if Mark would tour with Morrissey now if asked to do so...

Hi. I don't know whether Mark Nevin would tour with Morrissey if the option was available. He's doing his own thing now, to the point where he scuttled a possible Fairground Attraction reunion a few years ago to make a go of it as a solo artist.

He just released his second solo album and is touring around England and is doing some European dates later this year to support the cd. While it's very different from the Smiths or Morrissey, and his singing isn't quite as strong, his cd is very good. It's like Fairground Attraction meets early Van Morrison, and most of it is quite uplifting. You can listen to some of it on his website and watch a video of his last single.

So while he probably wouldn't join up as part of Morrissey's act, I'm sure that he would love to open for him.

yeah, that's a real sweet article. I think Nevin was much underrated. He only wrote about 15 songs with Morrissey but half of them were absolute beauties e.g:
