Quiet before the storm?
posted by davidt on Monday February 18 2002, @02:00PM

There is no lead story for this update. I'm sure it's just a temporary thing and things are being worked on, but for right now, there is nothing to post. So... is there anything else exciting going on while we wait?

Regarding the site, in the past several weeks there have been some more ISP connection problems, so you may have seen some intermittent outages. To avoid these problems and for future peace of mind I think I will have to finally pull the trigger and move the server to a hosting location. Perhaps this will happen in the next few weeks.

It would be nice if there was some great surprise around the corner, that would make up for the last few years of inactivity, wouldn't it?

I am personally looking forward to the new book by Kevin Cummins. It should be really great. He's a wonderful photographer, and I expect his book to be as good as "Morrissey Shot". I think that'll satiate the need for a few months.

David, I spoke to B tonight (I won't mention her real name or net name) but it is the girl you spoke with recently on the phone. By the way, she thinks you're very funny and appreciated your concern pertaining to all of the alleged problems she is experiencing. I just wanted to confirm that everything she's been telling to you and the appropriate authorities is 100% correct and deadly accurate. I know because I am a witness to all that has transpired from the last conversation you had with her to the most recent. I just wanted to tell you David, thank you for your help and support.
Also thank you for your efforts on this site, keeping Morrissey's name alive for all of his fans, especially one in particular.
It is great that you've taken all this time and effort to construct and run this site and it is a real disappointment that Morrissey apparently doesn't appreciate all your efforts. I am not one of the obsessed fanatic fans but do appreciate all you do. After reading what Morrissey said on the ambitious outsiders' site, it appears as if Morrissey is very quick to criticize others but doesn't tolerate criticism of himself very well. This is the whole irony of the situation which is why I am not a blindly obsessed Morrissey fan as some others are.
So once again David, thank you for all your efforts; they are appreciated.

Morrissey seems to feel that he's the only one on this planet allowed to have an acid tongue, and that anyone else with one, wanting to give him a lick, should be pimp smacked by his 'true' followers. Really, you'd think that after having been in the business for so many years, he would have developed some thicker skin.

Morrissey should expect harshly worded views, because if you tell the masses that an album is done, on a yearly basis, and then don't offer us anything, people will mock you, laugh at you, and ultimately lose faith in you.

You can only be an armchair artist for so long...

He should actually be thanking David on a daily basis for keeping his name on life support, because if David pulls the plug, Morrissey's name would be dead. But no, it's far easier for Morrissey to slam the site for its patrons slamming him.

I'm sorry, but I'm only saying this because I actually do care, and know that blind worship will teach him to do nothing but sleep his life away, thinking that everything is okay.

The things you brought up about Morrissey saying that he doesn't drink or smoke, and that he would never do cover songs...well, these quotes are from 1985 or earlier. It was years ago.

Can't you just accept the fact the he has changed? People change. It's a fact of life.

Not to mention calling him a "bitch" is rather silly. Who told you he was a bitch? Where did you get your information? And, why must you be so argumentative? Did he do something to you personally?

I don't know. It just seems to me that if you don't care then why waste your time lashing out at the People who do still care for Morrissey, and why write such nasty things about him?

It doesn't make sense. Actually, Morrissey-Solo is beginning to not make any sense, and that's so sad to me because this was like a home for me.

Oh, well. I know it's coming Anonymous - go ahead and shoot me.

I tried doing a few entries, but it just wasn't working out because you can't show images (I do understand the reasons for this). So, one thing I've found is how easy it was to start a journal and keep it updated. Obviously anyone with a morrissey-solo user name can start one by a simple click or two.

Other random things is www.undiesonlyclub.com, which I discovered a few weeks ago. It's kind of like Gibby's www.makeoutclub.com, only with underwears.

Here's a quote from the Lucksmiths: "When I spoke to you, you say 'I'll see you soon', but I won't see you for ages. And your voice sounded so small, the loneliness of the long distance phone call."

I hope I am right about the maturity part because it was extreemly hard to enjoy Morrisseys concerts on the Oye Esteban tour due to the idiocy that was constantly occuring around me.

Morrissey is great but perhaps it is fans like you people who've made him ill and caused him to basically give up. You people who live on this site day and night debating the most idiotic points, going back and forth over and over. Pretending to meet Morrissey everywhere. "he was at my Laundromat", "he was working at my car wash", not too mention the truly pathetic souls who live in the chat room all day talking to themselves under different names to kill time between medication injections. And the silly juvenile rambling of the journals-pathetic self pity and obsessive idiocy about absolutely nothing that is written there is enough to make Morrissey want to put a bullet in his head to see the ones who worship him teeter between the stalker and the obsessive schizophrenic.
Morrissey once was great and once mattered, but times change and you blind obsessive fools on here are probably why he's given up; I mean if you had fans like you and nothing else, would you climb out from under your bed each morning? He doesn't give a damn about you people, look at yourselves here, you who live here on the general boards insulting and tossing around mindless pathetic comments as easily as you toss around screennames; you've made Morrissey ill, he can't stand this site because of people like you. I'm sure he's read the boards, gone into the chat and he's found sociopaths, mental cases, and sad excuses for fans; no wonder he's given up doing anything new or worthwhile.
But Morrissey seems like he's taking his show on the road again so he can be subjected to the carnival clowns and psych ward inhabitants who frequent this site, if each of their personalities buys a ticket, perhaps Morrissey might be fooled into thinking he really does still matter.
And before you ask why I come here; I come here just to laugh at your babbling idiocies and to understand better why Morrissey never communicates with any of his fans through this site or otherwise ... unless they stalk him. And I'm also studying Criminal Justice at University and am writing a paper about sociopaths on the Internet and this site will earn me an A for my research on human psychopaths.
