In the German "Musikexpress" is a short article about the wonderful Hope Sandoval who used to be the singer of Mazzy Star.

At the end of the interview she says (translated): "Until the next interview I'll listen to 'The Best Of The Smiths'. They were so melancholic but they had hope in their music as well."

Now I know why I love her so much. :-)

Hope is a wonderful singer and a wonderful woman as well. Just listen to Mazzy Star's "She hangs brightly" and you won't stop listening to it all winter. I'm not sure what she is up to right now, however.

Their debut album "Bavarian Fruit Bread" was released two or three months ago via BMG.
Not very different from MZ sound (even the bass player is the same from "Among My Swan"), but of course, something is lost since David Roback is not playing with her anymore.
I could say that HS&TWI chose to be "folk & innocent" instead of rather "dark & claustrophobic" (in their special way) as Mazzy Star.
However, still recommended for any MZ fan (as well as "At The Doorway Again" EP).

what a shame that Mazzy Star faded into rock n' roll obscurity "Fade Into You" was a very Moz-like tune.
