Carlos Blakos writes:

A new book on Kurt Cobain, "Heavier Than Heaven: The Biography of Kurt Cobain" was reviewed in The Guardian (British Newspaper) on Saturday 22nd September. The reviewer was Julie Burchill, a well-known, controversial music journalist; she used to write for the weekly New Musical Express. Talking about her lateness in following new trends, she says:

"For instance, when I finally admitted to myself that I loved the Smiths, they'd been defunct for five years - something that didn't stop Morrissey, on hearing of my girlish swoon, from knocking on my door unbidden one morning and putting me through three of the most boring hours of my life."

    blah.
  • Hmmm...Curbain or Morrissey...MORRISSEY.
Cobain: Semi-talented song writer. Poor musician. Had to make do with the 3 chords he knew. They fooled the public with their grunge pop filled teen angst. Yeah, they were some catchy riffs. I dug it. Couldn't handle the money, women and fame (poor boo boo kitty) and went for the long nap.
Morrissey: Incredibly talented lyricist and poet. Great sense of musical direction but is smart enough to work with the pros and let them do some molding. Completely realistic view on life while always playing the cynic. No scratch to this voice...pure fluid. Quite possibly the greatest lyricst and singer ever known to music. Severly underappreciated (especially in the UK). Hopefully in for the long haul (as far as releases). Oh yeah...then there was this band called the Smiths....

  • Why is everyone responding to this with Kurt Cobain slams? You do understand by reading this item that's it's the JOURNALIST who was bored by Morrissey, right?

Read slowly and quit jerking your knees so quickly.

  • If anyone else knocks Kurt Cobain......
Just leave that poor man alone. He was a very tortured person, all the way back to his childhood. Go read any one of his biographies, and tell me you'd switch places with him. To make fun of someone's art because you "don't like it", and especially because that person was tormented enough to resort to suicide as their answer, truly makes you look pathetic, childish, and cruel. And if anyone here is insensitive enough to start bashing him, after all that has been happening recently, you truly have no heart. Get some empathy, people, before it's too late.

Me, with a preference for making things worse...
  • Hmmm...Julie Burchill or Morrissey...MORRISSEY.
Julie Burchill: Uh....who? I am sure Morrissey was personally enthralled by her company. It's certainly understandable that someone would get bored in the presence of such a mundane, unintellectual whiner. Well, no. She became bored because 5 seconds into the meeting the 3rd orgasm overtook her and she had just had all she could handle ;)

Sorry for the misdirected knock. :)

  • Oh come on!
Kurdt Cobrain was a fantasticly talented singer.
See heart shaped box, or the Unplugged set.
And it makes me glad, to have two heroes whom committed suicide.
As for the three-chord matter, "southpaw crapper", the second bad thing Mr Stevey Partick Morosey ever did only utilizes two chords.
