leedoggpimp writes: A televison movie of the 50's icon James Dean will air on Aug. 5 at 8 pm. As most of you may already know Morrissey is a fan of James Dean and is featured in his video "Suedehead".

Tibby also writes: I thought this might be of interest to you Morrissey/James Dean fans out there like me. On August 5 at 8:00p.m ET/PT an original TNT movie called "James Dean" (of course) about the actor James Dean premieres. An actor named James Franco portrays James Dean in this film. You might have caught little glimpses of this forthcoming movie on TNT as they have showed a few previews.

I work for a weekly newspaper and got a promo of the full length movie in may, it is a copy of the one that is going to be aired.

I have one thing to say about it.

    IT IS GREAT.

Be sure to tune in for it...

It is the only Dean movie that almost has it right. Casper van Dien's James Dean:live fast, die young was awful.

    Do not miss this one...

      I'm SO excited!!

They have been talking about this for over a year now - so I've been waiting a long time.

James Franco looks more like him than any other actor I've seen play him. I was in Fairmount three years ago, and the guy who won the look-a-like contest looked NOTHING like him! Or, at least I didn't think he did, anyway.

I became a Morrissey fan because of the Suedehead video...so I actually have to Thank Jimmy for introducing me to MORRISSEY! :p

Well...okay, maybe I should just thank Morrissey for making the video!

I absolutely love James Dean.I think he`s wonderful.Especially in "Rebel Without A Cause"."East Of Eden" is also wonderful. As I`m sure most of you know Dean appeared with Richard Davalos( cover star from the "Strangeways" and best of 1&2 lps and also in the Suedehead video)in "East Of Eden.I saw it on television it`s difficult to buy it now because it`s out of print.

Well if you haven`t already you should read "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams"(James Dean`s biography) by Paul Alexander. It`s has a small mention of Morrissey in it.

Anyway I can`t wait to see this movie (duh I know I wrote in about it).I`ve been following it bu the little teasers they show on tnt. Finally something good on television~Tibby

This is just going to be another case of a network making a film to bring themselves ratings by appealing to peoples' love for original 'biographical' films.

Even though I am as much of a fan of James Dean as anyone else, I am going to abstain from watching this one. I am so sick of seeing film after film, book after book, based on the life of James Dean (as well as other celebrities, too)...because they have some different version of this and that...and it seems that they are just made to be more dramatic and touching than the ones that came before..

A pretty good choice here. There was an article in the LA Weekley regarding the movie and they seemed to like it. These guys are usually some of the harshest critics out there too. For those of you that remember that great but unfortunatly short-lived TV series, "Freaks and Geeks" he played one of the freaks.
