The Queen is Dead - June 16th 2001 15 year anniversary

On June 16th 1986, the quintessential Smiths album The Queen is Dead was released. The album has been cited by many Smiths fans as their personal favorite and frequently appears on many "All-Time Best" lists in many music magazines.

To commemorate the 15 year anniversary of this occasion, Morrissey/The Smiths tribute band Sweet and Tender Hooligans will perform songs from the album in its entirity followed by a set of Morrissey/The Smiths classics.

      The day before my Birthday .. I will deffinately be there. And to think.. I was just about to turn 3 years old when "The Queen Is Dead" came out :-)

      I saw them at Sunset House of Blues last year - well worth to attend... And Jose - the frontman - has a rep as an all-around nice guy...

      There's always going to be that segment of the populaation that don't like cover bands for what they stand for. Something having to do with impressions of the real thing, or a very pompous attitude of "Why should I accept a cheap substitute when the real thing tours through LA about every 2 years."

      Well, if you're open-minded these guys are pretty good and they will also perform songs that you will never see Morrissey do anymore. The one time I saw them they did, "Seasick, Yet Still Docked" which I though was pretty cool. Cover bands can be fun and like I said earlier, these guys do a good job.
