New Manchester band 'Charmed' have been talking about their new CD and musical influences in the Manchester Evening News (27th April).

Band members Rob Wood and Mark Dove explained how they chose the name of the band.

'We were on holiday in France and the TV was on, but we were not paying too much attention as all the programmes were dubbed in French. Then we heard 'How soon is now' booming from the TV set, we hadn't heard that cover version before and was amazed to see it being used as the theme for the programme 'Charmed' which we hadn't seen in the UK at the time. Being massive fans of The Smiths we was decided there on the spot that we would take the name of the programme as the name of the band.

In fact Charmed have been even closer to The Smiths than they ever imagined, as Dove continued, 'we were using the next recording studio in Altrincham, (south Manchester) as Specter - the new band featuring Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke.'
