In the Celebrity Record Collections section of Q4music.com Bernard Butler says about The Queen is Dead:
I was 16 and the perfect sad case for it. Disenchanted from suburbia. But that has given me a career. I Know It's Over used to make me cry regularly, yet something like Frankly Mr Shankly is hilariously whimsical. There Is A Light That Never Goes Out - "And if a double-decker bus crashes into us/to die by your side is such a heavenly way to die" now that's a song to get into. When they went on tour for this it was really rocky - smart suits, beautiful guitars, Morrissey at the front. Very Oasis. Johnny says Strangeways Here We Come is their best album, but I know better.

    Bernard, where art thou? (Score:1)
I agree with every word he says. But here's the question: What's Bernard Butler doing these days?
Suede were such a splendid band while they had him!

I'd think that both Queen and Strangeways are classic albums, but as far as the comparision to Oasis, I've never heard such an absurd comparision. Morrissey isn't like Oasis. Yeah, they're both british. Big deal.

In my opinion, Oasis is much more false - they're brit pop style is more marketing. Morrissey's poetic style and odd mannerisms work much more with his music.

But his other kind, lovely words and simply the fact that "I was 16" is in the commentary makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

the oasis mention is just to explain the = layout of this time by the smiths, since tbefore this tour they were less frontal. BB is not comparing the two bands, just summing up how the smiths looked at the time for a modern reader to understand.

      still fair point.
