Just to forewarn any interested parties in the UK that the BBC series "I Love The 1980s" is set to feature The Smiths heavily in the programme dedicated to 1984, to be aired on Saturday the 17th February. I'm not sure what the content will be, but bands featured on the programmes up till now have been given slots of about five to ten minutes, with fans talking, archive performances, and comments from near-celebrities. Apparently, the rumours doing the rounds last year that a Smiths night in Manchester was to be filmed were to do with this, but that fell through. anyway... keep your eyes peeled.

For those who do not know it, it lasts about an hour and a half and it covers a kind of "review" of music, fashion, habits, tv programmes, etc...of those years, including chocolate brands, scented rubbers, cartoons, robots, j.r., adam ant, metal mickey and all the stuff many of us grew up with.
Normally, they cover a couple of bands or music phenomena for 10 minutes, and then they dedicate a brief coverage for less important music acts.
So far, they've shown Kim Wilde, Adam and The Ants, the New Romantics (including Visage and Spandau Ballet), etc.
I'm not gonna go out for the next nine Saturdays to watch them.
By the way...is there any bloody person playing guitar in this miserable Birmingha(UK) ???????
My band's been looking for one for ages, and it seems that nowadays people's interest inmusic amount to DJing and computers.
Bye bye
