This sounds soooo good. Pity I live in England. Does anybody know of a British smiths tribute band that are willing to tour instead of just playing in London?

    Lemmeeeee know!

A pretty good night (Score:3, Informative)
For all who are interested, I went to the show and it was a pretty good time. You'll have to excuse me, but I don't know very much about the local scene. So unless the band introduced themselves, I have no idea who they were.

The first band was good, and they were really into the songs. They played "Stop Me If You Think That You've Heard This One Before", "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out", and "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me."

The Second band had the most talented members, but you could tell that they hadn't practiced together and the lead singer wasn't much of a fan. Their set consisted of: "Shoplifters Of The World Unite", "London" and "Ask." The lead singer kept saying things like "I hope you don't expect us to be good" and "Let's mangle another Smiths song." He messed up quite a few lyrics, but his guitar work was excellent. I recognized their drummer from a poster... he's in the band 'Alien Crime Syndicate.'

The third band was named 'Pris', and they were (by far) my favorite. The lead singer was obviously a huge fan, and you could tell that they took the show really seriously. The played: "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others", "Death Of A Disco Dancer", "Shoplifters Of The World Unite" and "Ask". The singer asked us if we wanted more, and answered our screams with "My Love Life." You could tell that the singer was into it, as he was using lines like: "I'd like to ask the journalists to stop throwing things", "This is our new single...", and "I'd like to thank you from the heart of my bottom." I foud a web page about the band if anyone is interested Pris.

Up next was a guy on guitar who explained that he had blown off the show until he got a call at 8:30 telling him that he better be ready. So he hurried home and learned "Bigmouth Strikes Again." He couldn't remember all of the words, but it was actually pretty funny.

The next act was another lone singer/guitarist who played a slow version of "This Charming Man." The crowd had a mixed reaction to his redition, since it was so different than the original. Personally I liked it.

The following act was called "The Turn Ons." And they were exactly like you would expect a local band in Seattle to be: trendy looking, tons of attitude, not really that talented. The lead singer had this fake British accent which was laughable. Their set included "Death Of A Disco Dancer", "Panic" and a lot of eyerolling from the audience. The guy who just learned Bigmouth was better...

The final act of the night was the singer of the second band. He played the crowd favorite of the night "Girlfriend from Tacoma." Then he started complaining again about not knowing the songs very well. But his version of "Please, Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" was pretty good considering. The final song of the night was "How Soon Is Now" which was suprisingly good. Someone came out to drum, and a guy from the audience got up and played harmonica. In the middle of the song a bass played came out, and they more or less stopped the song so he could tune up.

It was definitely a fun night. I could hardly believe that the show sold out. It just goes to show how hungry we are for some new material.
