i went there today after work & everyone confirmed that it is happening on Oct. 20th, & one person (over the phone) quoted me a time of five o' clock. i even saw the official press release in their binder of upcoming events.

definite details in the coming weeks. they said that they usually issue wristbands with an advance purchase (a week or so) prior to the event.

I asked 3 employees there today, even the marketing guy for the event. It's 5000% true that he's coming to New York, and you have to pre purchase the dvd's on the 17th. Then get a wristband for the 20th.
So come early to the store at Union Sq. on the 17th. Only 500 are given out.

okay, maybe i'm not getting something here...but 500 wristbands? is morrissey really going to stay put to see 500 people? or do they pick something like a hundred out of those 500? are all the dvds presigned maybe?

Since it's a new release of a DVD, the release date is on tuesday, so that means precisely at midnight, they should start selling the dvds, and give out wristbands. There should be some advertisement about the event in the next week or so since it's cutting so close.
The store closes at 1 on weekdays, so I predict that on monday night if things go as planned that people will begin to line up downstairs in the store.
Hey Carlos, the marketing guy is named Tom. He just got relocated from the Times Square store, so some employees might not know who he is, so try to call for a manager then ask for Tom.

For nearly 2 decades now, many fans have followed you; purchased your records; memorized every lyric for obvious reasons. But, why do you find it necessary to, first, alienate many of your fans by making public appearances strictly in LA (or NYC) and second, why do you repackage, rerelease everything instead of touring. We want new music, but we'll be happy filling your pockets by purchasing show tickets.

As far as 500 wristbands, accomodate everybody. I know for a fact that you like meeting fans, so let everyone have their 15 seconds with you. You owe it to all of us.

Hire somebody to help you determine which cities you've neglected and play. We'll pay the ticket prices, you'll stay fit and trim from touring and we'll all be a bit happier.
