More on the L.A. appearance in Oct.
posted by davidt on Tuesday September 26 2000, @09:00AM

Regarding the forthcoming Los Angeles appearance - I have been dropped some hints but do not have the full details so things might change. As several people have already posted or deduced, this will be a DVD signing (at midnight, on the date the DVD goes on sale, Oct. 17). I believe wristbands will be distributed on the previous Friday (around 500 or so) with pre-purchase of the DVD. Please do not call the record store as they will not be giving out any info regarding this event.

Full details will be posted here on Oct. 9.

I simply believe it means this...first you go to whatever record store is promoting this signing and simply pay for your pre-order of Morrissey's "oye esteban" dvd and automatically be eligable for the raffle of wristband...am sure when you pre-order your dvd, the store will give you a ticket or number of some sort. Then you return on the day of the signing and wait patiently to hear if your lucky number is called. If your not one of the lucky 500 pre-order fans that had their number shouted, I would simply assume a person for the store will tell you that you have no chance of seeing Morrissey and be asked to leave or simply do something else productive.

      so...
      1. get your pre-order your dvd at this mystery store
      2. pray for the heavenly saints that they call your lucky number
      3. when they call your number, make your you super-glue that damn wristband to your wrist (beware of thiefs or bids on your wristband)
      4. see Morrissey and die happy

...oh yeah, make you get what ever you want signed. So to all my Moz Angelino fans. I pray for you so pray for me that we see the man himself

So if they give you a wristband on friday, and the signing is not until tuesday at 12am, then I have to make sure that I don't lose, tear, or destroy the wristband over the weekend. What pressure!

And does that mean that we can expect a long line outside the mystery record store on that Friday as well???

October 9th is too far away...we need to know now!

It can be the obvious Virgin Mega store or maybe even the Tower Records on Sunset, but I am pretty sure that this record store will be more than likely on the westside or hollywood.

            1. You show up to the record store designated as the "drop point" that friday. If you have a test or some important work, it can wait.

            2. You buy the DVD without actually walking away from the counter with it. Before you leave the store, Marksmen with tranquilizer darts will knock you out, and during that time, you will be weighed, checked for parasites, and then tagged.

            3. On monday night, roughly around midnight, there will be a barbeque in front of that same record store. They will have Turkey hotdogs for non-meat eaters. You will get lots of stares and nasty looks. This means you are in the right place.

            4. Stand in line according to the rules of Price- Waterhouse. You will be then lined by height and will be given dainty little costumes where you will then do a rousing rendition of "Let's go to the Movies" just like the Rockettes.

            5. You will eventually get to see and or meet Morrissey. To help facilitate this process, try and come up with the most embarassing and inapporpriate question that you can think of. When he is done uncomfortably shifting around in his chair and biting his nails, happily place your DVD in front of Morrissey and as he signs it say, "I really liked these videos the first time I saw them. I can't wait to get it home to watch them again."

            6. Go to work in the same clothes you wore the night before and smelling like beer.
