"Meeting Mr. Alain Whyte"

Joe Meza writes:

"Of all places to be recognized, Ikea" was the response from his female companion, "If I would have thought that I would be recognized, I would have shaved" was the response from Alain. (Ikea in Burbank, CA, is a furniture store.) I noticed him walking towards me, but it didn't hit me until he came closer, "Mr. Alain Whyte," I called. He stopped and I introduced myself, I asked how everything was, and I asked about an upcoming tour, he said something about a show in Texas that was booked but Morrissey didn't approve. He did say to expect a new CD (I can't remember all his exact words I was in shock). I told him I didn't want to take his time, he was very thankful and kind, he signed a card I had in my pocket with a thank you and best wishes from Alain Whyte "Mozzer's axeman". It was a real coincidence - I thought about wearing my "Moz Angeles" shirt but didn't and was shopping for a frame for my Morrissey sketch. We both said thank you and "were shaking hands so politely".

    Alain Whyte in Ikea??!!! (Score:0)
Again more rumors of a new album and more touring. I really do not know what to believe any more.

Enough is enough. Do something or just fade away, but don't prolong our misery with glimpses of hope.

Not appoving of a concert in Texas sounds like Moz had, at one time, a tour planned. This would explain the Atlanta and Clearwater shows. Sounds like he didn't appove of the tour and that's why things were scrapped. If it was only Texas, he probably would've continued the tour but found a different city/venue.

As for Sweden shows, I wouldn't hold my breath!

I met Alain at Downtime in NYC. He is a very nice chap. Cordial, friendly, well-manered and very good-looking. We shook hands, I thanked him for all he has done with Morrissey, we chatted for a bit and then parted ways. He could not have been nicer. Which Ikea was it?

but it's not as exciting when you interact with them. like me. i was talking to alain at a lounge club one night and he was quite the shy guy at first, but then when you get to ask questions other than the band then it becomes more personal. It was mesmerising to hear him telling ME about his life stories when he was a kid, and that right there could never replace what kind of conversation i had with a great musicsion. To hear all about morrissey, morrissey this and morrissey that is too much. You have to learn how to apprciate good music when you hear it, and that's Alain Whyte.
