This latest issue of Utne Reader (Sept/Oct) features an article from To-Do List titled "The Quirkyalone", which is a word the author of the piece invented to describe lonely romantics. Morrissey is featured on a list of past and present quirkyalones, with the description: "For those who grew up in the '80s, the prototypical quirkyalone."

UPDATE (Sept. 14): Link to article on Utne's site as mentioned in the comments section.

for the interested readers, go to www.utne.com and follow "Current Issue" and then "Quirkyalone".
Main point: quirkyalones are the last of the romantic breed.

SPM is in cherished company, there's Joan of Arc, and Rilke. (Please feel free to add).

    Thanks a bunch, Caroline!

Greetings, from the privacy of my own lexicon,
    Orpheus.
