Wilde about the Moz writes:

This isn't really about Morrissey, but since Morrissey is an Oscar Wilde fan, as are many Morrissey fans, I thought I should post it. Merlin Holland, the grandson of Oscar Wilde, will be giving a lecture this Sunday, August the 6th in Stratford, Ontario Canada. The lecture will focus on the life and works of Oscar Wilde. Stratford is celebrating the One Hundreth anniversary of the loss of one of England's greatest literary writers. For more information call the Stratford Box office. Tickets are going fast!

I doubt very much if Merlin Holland would be on this website, but if he should visit it:

I have waited 21 years for a Wildean bloodline connexion, and would honour your visit! Back in '82 I had the utter pleasure of meeting and dining with H. Montgomery Hyde, after he gave a lecture at Stanford University. One of the happiest days of my life!

"One of England's"? I as an Irishman myself, am absoloutly pissed that England ever take credit for Oscar. He was Irish, born and raised. Remember that.

        Oscar Wilde English??? (Score:0)
What fresh lunacy is this? I suppose Morrissey is an American too? He lives there, doesn't he? What idiot thinks Wilde was English?? This is beyond belief, appropriating artists of a different nationality!
I suppose you know the well-known Irish playwright, William Shakespeare? And the Irish novelist, George Eliot?
This kind of cultural colonialism is really galling, and smacks of racism.
