I have
found at www.eeggs.com
(an easter egg page) the following
information on Smiths records (I couldn't check it
out to see if it is really true):
1. Look at
the inner groove (the quiet bit at the end of each
side) on many Smiths or Morrissey 7" and
12" singles.
2. You will find little inscriptions penned by
Morrissey such as (not exhaustive):
I. Hand in Glove 7" a)Kiss my shades b)Kiss my
shades too
II. This Charming Man 12" a)Will nature make a
man of me yet? b)Slap me on the patio
III. Heaven Knows... 7" a)Smiths Indeed b)Ill
forever
IV. Heaven Knows... 12" a)Smiths presumably
b)Forever ill
V. William... 12" a)The impotence of being
Ernest b) Romantic & _ is hip and aware (or
certain pressings: We hates bad grammer)
VI. Last Night I Dreamt... 12" a) The return of
the Submissive Society starring Sheridan Whiteside
b)The bizarre oriental vibrating palm death starring
Sheridan Whiteside
The full list of etchings is available in the "Etchings
on Vinyl" section at Stephane Daigle's "Passions
Just Like Mine".

Kiss my shades I believe appears on quite few RT records. I'll have to be anal and check.
Like vinyl itself these etchings make the product even more personal than CD. And this comes from a CD single junky!
