Here
is an extract from an article entitled "The
Sixty Second Interview" that I read this Monday
in a "Metro", a free newspaper
which is handed out to commuters on London
Underground trains. The newspaper is published by
the same people who publish the Evening Standard,
which is the main London evening newspaper. For
non-Brits "Coronation Street" is a popular
and long running gritty, rough, tough and gruff soap
opera set somewhere in the north of England.
Probably Manchester. I have some recollection that
as a young man, Moz sent some unsolicited scripts
into "Corrie" which were well received but
not used.

"Coronation
Street"'s Kevin Kennedy 38 becomes the latest
soap start to release a record next week with his
single, Bulldog Nation being touted as "Bryan
Adams-esque". His musical career, he says,
began with a band he formed with childhood friends
who became The Smiths and was kickstarted when he
was in rehab for his addiction to alcohol.
. . .
Q: So how did it all all start?
A: I was in rehab and needed something to fill my
time. I've been playing for years anyway. I was the
bass player with The Smiths for a bit and I've
played at the NEC, Reading Festival, the Mean
Fiddler. I played in Nashville, and in New Orleans -
all over. I thought it was time I pulled my finger
out and did something on the recording side rather
than just the gigging.
Q: Still in touch with The Smiths?
A: I see Johnny Marr occasionally. But people keep
asking me about it and I think I'm going to get a
phone call from him soon asking why I keep talking
about him."

The band in question was the Paris Valentinos
