Please visit the page for our upcoming feature documentary "Jobriath A.D." about 70s glam rock singer Jobriath. It would be great if you could post this link for the Morrissey fans on here, as I'm sure they would be interested in hearing about it. The link is for our kickstarter page, which also includes a link within to our facebook fan page. Thanks much.

  • Hopefully Morrissey will have some input on the documentary. He must know a considerable amount about Jobriath, as he was commissioned to oversee the reissue process and, needless to say, his obsession.

  • For you haters, have you actually given this guy a fair go.

I'm completely blown away by his music. I stayed away from him for a long time because of what I read here but in making a decision for myself and not following the flow of discourse here - I have yet again found another gem thanks to morrissey.

    Heartbeat
    Morning Star Ship
    Im'a'man
    Be still (my favourite)
    I love a good fight.

These are all fantastic pop songs and I don't understand why people say he is hard to listen to.

Other artists who Morrissey has introduced me to and opened my eyes to a world of music beyond the daily hum-drum of coldplay, oasis, radiohead blah blah are:

    Brian Eno
    Brigitte Bardot
    Buzzcocks
    Cockney rejects
    Damien Dempsey
    David Bowie
    The fall
    Gilbert O'sullivan
    Klaus nomi
    Nico
    Orange Juice
    Patti Smith
    Ramones
    Raymonde
    Serge Gainsbourg
    siouxise and the banshees
    THE SLITS
    SPARKS
    Suede
    T.REX
    Velvet Underground

There are also so many scattered artists and songs there is no space to mention here
I can say that Under the Influence has been the CD i've had most on rotation for the past years along with songs to be cremated to.

  • Hey friends,

In the era of Prop 8 and Don't Ask/Don't Tell, Jobriath plays a culturally relevant role as a musical "first" in history.

His music is arresting, to say the least. His story is even more arresting and poignant as well. I agree with previous posts: Morrissey has introduced us all to a whole different world of musical possibilities.

Thanks for taking the time to read this posting. Please check out Jobriath!

    Truly,
    Ken

  • I actually have the Attack Jobriath album and enjoyed a few of the tracks. This post is indicative of the truly stagnant and severely dull times that descend upon Morrisseyworld when he is not touring or has announced the writing or recording of new tracks. Jobriath is one of his passions. He loves being obtuse and championing the obscure. We don't have to fawn over every tangentially related item that pops up in the music/movie/fashion world that has to do with Morrissey. Jobriath means a great deal to Moz...Great...He was a gender-bending icon and a pioneer or sorts. Morrissey is clever. He doesn't tell us specifically why Jobriath means so much to him. He assumes we should embrace the music because he endorses it. That is a load of crap. Until he publishes his autobiography and tells us why??? about so much of the tantalizing details of his private life, no one can state for sure why it is that he loves what he loves and why he is what he is. He will never tell us. Admit it. It is part of the genius that is Morrissey's not-so-public persona. It will forever remain that way. He'll never get desperate enough to tell all. We'll have to infer and take stabs and guesses based upon ass pictures as cd sleeves, male-centered erotic imagery, and an endless catalogue of music full of innuendo and some in-your-face autobiographical lyrics. We've gotten as much of his autobiography as we will ever get. Read the cd sleeves and bind them together if you must have a book.
