With it being a seated venue and Pomona and Ventura being GA and closer to L.A., I think many people were planning to skip Indio anyway.

To get fit requires regular work outs designed to pace your body. Does Morrissey want to have such a regime?

My concern is - his professional Manager, Irving must be watching these episodes and wondering what consequences of these 'happenings' seem to his business, his professional 'status'. Does Morrissey still want Irving as his Management?

Whoa, people! I know you're upset, but you don't know what's happened! If they were told the show will be rescheduled, chances are it WILL be rescheduled and soon. Morrissey hasn't been feeling well. The show ended last night without an encore or thank you - that's usually a sure sign the next nights show will not go on. This is not new and it shouldn't be a shocker for us anymore. I don't know what's going on with Morrissey or why he's so sick, but instead of being angry at him and bitching and moaning about it, try to wish him well. I hope he gets better so he can finish the rest of the CA dates. You should do the same. Send out good energy...

So we jumped back in the car and drove another 4hrs home (Oxnard, CA).

Todays drive totals = Vegas to Indio to Oxnard =8:51hrs and 494 miles.

  • So, was Morrissey's recent collapse due to a strained voice as well? We still don't know exactly what happened there. Morrissey fans don't really ask questions. Follow the leader.

I'm still baffled as to why Morrissey has voice trouble so often, when he does nothing unique with his voice. In fact, many other performers sing with much greater stress, and at longer stretches while on tour, and they don't seem to have the issues that Morrissey does.

Morrissey should give up singing and learn to play the bongos. Although, I could imagine even a bongo tour being canceled because of hand fatigue.

What a sad way to wind down a career.

  • Yes, 20 (I think it's 20??) cancellations in one year is somewhat taking the piss but there MUST be more to it than him 'not caring about fans' or simply not being bothered to show up. All the people saying he's 'an old man'...ok, yeah, he is 50. Hardly old when you consider what many performers much older than him are doing, so again, surely there is something more? If this does turn out to be the last we see of Moz live I think it's a sad way to end a fantastic career. If he does take a rest and come back he needs to get a grip or run the risk of being one of the people he's criticised in the past for not knowing when to stop... I think he's incredible, talented and intelligent, so to end like this would be a huge injustice. As for rumoured poor ticket sales, it works both ways...he doesn't show up, so no matter how much people love him they will give up on him in the end if he keeps cancelling. Unfortunately it looks as if that may already be happening. I clearly know nothing about his management but as it's obvious he seems to be so set in his ways, he needs people around him who, whilst respecting his wishes and talent, do not fawn over him. Somebody needs to take control!

  • This tour is like the Elvis comeback tour - blighted by disaster with a slight sense of impending doom.

I agree Morrissey didn't seem very interested at being on 'the One Show' - but would you be?

My favourite part was where the presenters were sympathising with the white collar unemployed, saying "they've never known failure.." to which Morrissey responded, "so why sympathise?"

As I've said a few times, I think Morrissey is low in mood at the moment but I think touring is his lifeblood and he will soldier on.

You really shouldn't be so vicious in your attacks on Morrissey for pulling out of a concert with a sore throat - it's perfectly reasonable, hardly unexpected and frankly this tour is just getting better and better for me. The sense of melodrama and diva-like undercurrents are turning this tour into one of the most camp tours in history!

This would be the ultimate way to go out!

Besides, if you thought his powers were waning, just listen to the opening two songs on 'YOR.' Resplendent.

  • This must be surely his last tour, but he's ending it with no glory.
He's of course ill, or too old to do this. He does not have the same strength he used to have to recover.
He's been my hero for 23 years now. After thousands euros spent on records, books, memorabilia, trips, hotels, tickets and so on, I would like to remember him kindly and not for all the mess he's doing on this weak tour.
I have been so upset after the Rimini cancellation, that my interest on him is now really fading. After all these years.

  • I arrived at the B. O. at 8:45pm and talked with one of the attendants who said that the sales for the show were good, though not a sold out show. Postponed, not cancelled, was on the Marquee and at the B. O. She said to me that there could be a re-scheduled date announced as early as Wednesday. An early X-mas?

    Unfortunately, the Fantasy Springs marketing tools used the Coachella incident in the local press release;

      http://www.desertentertainer.com/articles/2009/12/03/top_stories/casinos/doc4b17fca5dd76e438963462.txt [desertentertainer.com]

    which pissed me off.

The Coachella set was great, for me, and I didn't question his response, at the time, because I didn't write and tour the world with a song called "Meat is Murder." A personal highlight for me when I saw it performed in Oakland, Ca in the nineteen hate-ees. That song came to my mind as the perfect ender for that set. I was disappointed that Morrissey didn't headline the second stage at Coachella, but was instead the lead in to Paul McCartney. I'm sure that it was in Sir Paul's rider that the second stage was dark during his set, which it was.

Just a Note: Desert air is death for most singers. Vegas is a desert, baby! I have heard voices leave after only one night, here.

Heal The Voice and come back to wipe the memory of Coachella from this desert valley.

  • seriously, he's already collapsed and been hospitalized, canceled dates, stopped one show for the bottle-on-the-head incident, and played less than an hour at a few shows. not to mention a so-so nearly set in stone set list (yes, i know it's a matter of opinion, but it's hard to not compare to past tours) when he has 25 years of material to draw from. i understand his health may be failing. i also understand that he has canceled shows before due to "health issues" to go drinking and partying instead the same night as the canceled show (for example, famously being seen at the DNA Lounge in san francisco after his last minute oakland cancellation). it's this sort of track record that is extra upsetting. the habitual canceling at the expense of fans is further marring (no pun intended) his already maligned touring reputation. i really feel bad for those who cannot get their money back from the hotels they booked; i have one close friend who drove 300+ miles for nothing other than to lose gas and hotel money, not to mention wasting a vacation day at work. this behavior is diva-ish, unprofessional, and inconsiderate of his legions of fans, many of whom he is well aware believe he can do no wrong as evidenced by the posts in this very forum. it is a sad state of affairs that anyone could be SO used to disappointment from a performer that they'll be ready with excuses for any naysayer that comes along. "well, it's morrissey, so you know what to expect." "you get what you pay for with him," etc. the only other act i can think of that has this bad a reputation for canceled gigs and no-shows is guns n' roses, for god's sake. morrissey just seems to have his heart elsewhere nowadays. i truly hope he takes a nice, long break from the road to relax. or maybe retire. make no mistake, i am not just blindly hating or ranting. i do love his music and have followed him for 22 years now, ever since "strangeways, here we come" hooked me. i love him and i always will. what i don't love is buying tickets for his shows and wondering what my chances are that i'll actually be using them.

I'm really sorry for all the folk who didn't get to see Morrissey last night.. sorry for the locals who must have thought Xmas had come early and sorry for the folk who travelled from far and wide just to hear him and share a venue with like minded people.

I do fear for his health. He has said in past that he has taken prescription medication for depression... many of these drugs produce the emaciated look that he sported for a long time. I think perhaps he has changed or ceased his medication and might still be working things out internally. No matter what his ill health or other issues are, give him time and i'm sure he'll get better and back on track.

I wish you all well and hope this postponement hasn't spoiled your enjoyment of his music.

  • It's Sunday night now and you've all had your say and got a lot off your chests. Now let's look at things sensibly, Morrissey was ill on Friday and you were all upset "Yes?". Tomorrow night he'll raise the roof once again and all those moaning people will be praising him again. That's America for you. When things are going your way everything is brilliant but as soon as the applecart is disrupted that's it, it's the end of the world. I've been let down with Morrissey in Liverpool, yes it was a nightmare, but things happen, take it in your stride, wait for your next chance and take it. Simple, or is that too simple, not enough dramatics? I see.

  • I know it goes against everything he believes in, but perhaps old Mozzer should really consider eating a rare steak once in awhile. A lifetime of grilled tempeh and Linda McCartney's tofu-treats might not be enough to prepare a vigorous man for aging well and keeping up his strength. He still has a great physique, especially for a man his age, but when he takes his shirt off these days he looks a bit soft and doughy, which is what happens to vegetarians over time because they can't maintain healthy muscle mass their entire lives.

I know all you veggies out there will hate me for saying it, and that's okay, you are entitled to your opinions. I just think the man may really be iron-deficient.

  • I won't be in town early enough on Wed to go, so maybe somebody else can grab a pair or two.
