Marr Interview in Spanish newspaper El País

He says he's in the best rock band in the world, but he leaves a door open to The Smiths getting back together...

  • Oh no! I hope they don't fall into that 80s nostalgia!! Morrissey is doing very well by himself.

  • Bueno, pero Morrissey es Morrissey y porque él no es bien ahora no significa que él debe volver a El Smiths. Marr tiene sus penas que salen El Smiths pero que puerta ha sido para cerró mucho tiempo.

Nunca Morrissey, nunca Marr, nunca El Smiths.

  • but to continue to marr is obviously a big mistake.

Frankly, johnny has done nothing of note since he wrecked the Smiths by leaving.

The only reason I like him is because he provided a magnificent vehicle for Morrissey.

Sadly, while Morrissey still has the talent to produce beautiful songs, Marr is a washed-up session muso and shadow of his former self.

Morrissey should never work with Marr again but he should find a better alternative such as Butler. That would give Morrissey the last laugh and show Marr what he's missing.

Morrissey and Butler would be perfection. Imagine Butler's epic melody and strangled blues guitar chiming away underneath Morrissey's croon. Irresistable.

    • These bizarre, personal diatribes against Johnny Marr on this site, anytime a news story is posted about him, are a thing to behold.

Johnny hasn't done anything of note? According to who? To you? I'm sure he's losing sleep. I think if Johnny Marr were to read your comments, he would chuckle, and take note that they appear to be coming from a crazed Morrissey fan, who is fiercely locked in the grip of some deluded cult.

These Moz zealots can't stand hearing even the mos trivial news about Johnny Marr. It's as if they're so insecure about the quality of Morrissey's current output that they have to poison the well before he's shown any goodwill. These people are the Morrissey fan version of trainspotters.

Strike that. They're a pop music version of the Teabagger movement.

They're isolated, fiercely loyal to Morrissey, and when pushed they have the tempers of conspiracy theorists.

  • I think Morrissey has proved from Liverpool's antics that his life runs on dignity. He'll never reform The Smiths because if he did then it would mean working with Joyce and well, it'd be sour apples all round I suppose.
