Morrissey - Echo Arena Liverpool - Saturday 7 November

Event organisers are working with the artistes representatives to explore all ways of restaging the abandoned concert. There are significant issues to resolve but a final decision will be made imminently over whether a new show is possible.

In the event this cannot be rearranged due to scheduling problems a full refund will be offered to all customers who purchased tickets from the authorised outlets. Organisers appreciate your patience while we work to try and resolve.

Information regarding refund process and / or any new date will be posted on venue website / www.gigsandtours.com and notified directly to customers where possible by email.

thank you

Liverpool rescheduled? (Score:1, Interesting)
Morrissey's people must think that everybody has endless funds and time, what with hotel costs, travel expenses, time off work etc. I for one will not be attending any rescheduled concert and will be giving great thought to attending any further cocerts by Morrissey

I understand why Moz walked off (Score:1)
but certainly don't agree with it. Principles are one thing but financially people are hard pressed for 'event' occasions like these. Moz gets hit on the head by a plastic cup/glass bottle/chainsaw (delete as to whichever version you believe) and he says simply 'goodnight'? Christ Noel Gallagher was pushed over and had his ribs bust onstage yet still carried on for half a gig to finish the set.

Moz will always do what Moz wants - but don't be suprised if all beyond the die-hards press the arena for a cash refund to bypass such theatrics again.

Maybe the offender will buy a ticket for the reschedueled gig and the same thing will occur yet again.

Then it might have to be re-reschedueled.

But yet again said offender might make an appearance.

And it could go on forever...in which case I'm doomed.

Saturday night was a disaster, but it was the type of thing that could have happened anywhere, there is no way to prevent it. There will come a time when an artist receives a lot worse than a bottle and where will be then? In the 1990's a tennis fan walked out of the crowd onto the tennis court and stabbed Monica Seles. This would probably have happened in football by now if the close circuit television was not as good as it is.

The incident on Saturday night has got nothing to do with Liverpool, the Echo Arena, Morrissey Fans, drinking at the gig etc... The incident is not personal to those elements. It could have happened anywhere. If you ban alcohol from the arenas it will just mean that many people stay in the pubs longer beforehand, arriving at the show with minutes to spare, which would create another problem and the consequences that a bottle neck could bring, as well as power mad security not liking the look of someone and saying they were too drunk to get in.

Morrissey loves Liverpool, he plays Liverpool more than Manchester. I have seen him several times in both cities and Liverpool has always been a better show in a better atmosphere. I was at the Manchester Apollo in 2006 and a section of the standing crowd, which I was a part of, was more interested in singing' 'If you all hate Scousers, clap your hands' it was a horrible atmosphere and the least enjoyable time I have watched Morrissey. I was at the same venue again this year and a section of the crowd was more interested in singing about Manchester United, as it was just days before they were mauled in Italy by Barcelona. I watched as bouncers turned the other way to let people with tickets to sit down enter the standing section, the toilets were literally an inch deep in urine, idiots were throwing plastic glasses full of beer across the crowd and the stewards were walking around like they owned the place. Afterwards we went out in Manchester, always a great place to go out, and had a great time, no trouble at all.

I think we need to keep this in perspective. I was there, Morrissey was right to walk off. There are dickheads everywhere in every city who will always have a problem with someone. Liverpool has the usual quota of scum that Manchester has, the tiresome, mindless runts who hate 'Mancs' and Manchester has their mirror equivalent too, as does every inner city in the UK. You will never change the mindset of people like that. If it was 1914 or 1939, there is a chance we could have got rid of them forever, but unfortunately they are here to stay, here to breed and god knows how much worse it will be when they have brain washed and mis-handled their children, the way their parents did with them.

I suppose on the plus side, with music growing so bland on an alarming rate these days, my years of going to concerts will be numbered anyway.

So there is a silver lining to Oasis, Kings Of Leon, Madonna, Emo and X-Factor after all.

Morrissey should re-schedule, for a one off show in about six months time. That way we can all put this to bed, Morrissey included. He is deeply appreciated in Liverpool and one fan from Burnley should not be aloud to destroy the bond.
