Johnny Marr: 'Morrissey and I email' (Norwich Evening News)

There's a story going round the web at the momemnt that quotes Marr talking his current relationship to Moz

"It's not necessarily the case that we're not talking," he said. "We have email. We worked on that 'Sound Of The Smiths' [2008 compilation album] together. Who's got time for a feud? Right now I have got screwdrivers inside guitars, my car broke down yesterday… I've got no time for a feud."

Speaking about a possible reunion he added: "I like The Smiths' songs, but I like playing with two guitars and writing new songs. Unfortunately a reunion would go against both those things."

Never Has To Be A Smiths "Thing" (Score:5, Interesting)
It's not impossible for Marr to write music for Moz (Lord knows Morrissey needs and upgrade from Tobias and Boorer and Alain's compositions have been lackluster lately) and start a new group together.

Nothing wrong with Morrissey and Marr along with a new bassist and drummer and second guitarist (possibly even a keyboardist).

All new faces, fresh sound, totally new beginnings for both guys.

I think both guys would get a renewed spark from a resumed collaboration.

Forget all The Smiths talk, just be Morrissey/Marr.

This small snippet might show that Morrissey is not all that difficult to work with.

This site seems to focus of bizarre folklore about postcards and pink-slips... almost to the point of hyperbole.

I think the tremendous amount of respect between Morrissey and Marr (despite the break-up of the Smiths) is proof that Morrissey is a well-rounded, sensible, and creative artist.

Marr and Morrissey should work on new material. Be careful though. Bauhaus, tried to do this a short time ago and the record was dreadful.

They are both at the peak of their powers at the moment, both doing well recording, no bitterness, and on tours so round about now would be the best time to embark on a joint project.
