Copeland tells Talking Heads, The Smiths to reform - Rhythm

Excerpt:

Police drummer Stewart Copeland has opened up in an interview with www.spinnermusic.co.uk about The Police, as well as drawing from his own experiences to advise the Talking Heads and The Smiths to ignore their sensible reasons for not getting back together and just go for it.

He told the website: "In most bands that I know, and certainly my own band, you have a real bond with your band members. Love them or hate them, there's a bond. We in the Police found and slayed a lot of dragons. We really put a lot of misconceptions about each other and ourselves to rest. We conquered the world together, same as Talking Heads. They have had a big part in each others' lives and wouldn't it be great if they all got along? It's like burying the hatchet".

He then went on to discuss The Smiths: "I don't know anything about the Smiths, but yes [they should reform]. It isn't any act of courage to not do it. What quality does it take to say no to something like that?"

Because the Police reunion was so legendary... (Score:1)
Primadonna tactics? Hubris and passive-aggression?

Yes... This is what I look for in a reunion!

5 years in the Eighties. I wasn't there.
One tour in the aughts? I won't be there, either.
Leave it alone already!

He is one to talk,The Police were a great band,a very long time ago and they hated each other. What he should really say is "we got back together for the really big payday and so should you."
I saw them live last year, and it was alright, not great by any means.
It is like, hanging around with someone who was a porn star,or someone who did drugs all the time and THEN have to listen to them tell you how YOU should do it NOW!
Run the other way,THE SMITHS should be left were it is...wherever THAT is.

Tell this guy Mozzer has been going for it ever since and has a bigger fan base now than he ever did with the Smiths so why would he want to reform especially with Joke and Royce! The only way I will ever accept the Smiths reforming if it's with a new rythymn section like say Jonny Bridgwood and Andrew Paresi just so it's not 2 Moz solo regulars.

If Sting sued him for a million pounds, I am sure he would just say yes to a call to reform. Idiot. He is just pissed that The Smiths said no to support them on their early eighties tour claiming that they were much more important than The Police. pff I know nothing about The Smiths....

but tbh a lot of these bands must be money motiviated
each member of the smiths could make a kiling if they wanted to
but i think they will never reform which is the right thing to do
bands like the specials/madness must have been tempted by the money, lets face it
