Morrissey - "We will resume"

Just posted via Facebook...

"I am very pleased to confirm that we will resume at Luxembourg this coming Friday (5 June), absorbed and collected. I have been reconstructed by a Wiltshire hospital and I am as close to good health as I'm likely to get.

I apologize to everyone caught up in the to-ing and fro-ing, but the disappointment of postponement is less than the disappointment of hearing me sing on one engine.

I should stress that nothing has been canceled. The four London concerts are repositioned in July, and both Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall are October fixtures. I've endured a titanic struggle against an intolerable virus lately, and although Hull, Hartlepool and Manchester were nights that comprised a whole life, the physical limits were reached. False notes crush the soul.

Besides Luxembourg and beyond, I am excited about the October release of Swords, which is an 18-track compilation of b-side of singles from the last three albums. This will be a Polydor release.

Thanks to everyone who bought 'Years of Refusal'. We were the number one seller in the UK for the week of release, but, as with 'You Are The Quarry' and 'Your Arsenal', we were booted off the number one spot on the last hour of the final day. We cried.

I would like to point out that some passable creature is using my name and sending sharply chiseled replies to people via Twitter, MySpace and Facebook. This person is not me. Not enough happens in my life that I would wish to share it with others. I do not scan these sites – or whatever they are - so I can only hope that whoever is posing as me is at least worth talking to. Beware of false imitations.

Thanks for reading these unvarnished facts, and thanks for giving us some greatly enjoyable nights on the Refusal tour.

Absolutely yours,
Morrissey."

Okay, why not? If these are put in an interesting order, or rather, put in a unique order by Moz, I can see myself putting this platter on the plate quite often.

Yes.... This is good news. And 'Swords!' ...

Also, as for those nasty viruses. Moz should be grateful he's a rock star and not a teacher. Those little brats get out of their seats and spray a thousand different viruses in the teacher's face. Plus rock stars make at least 100x more money per day than teachers do. Great gig to get in this economic crisis.

With their computers, they now splice telephone conversations on the phone, to make it look like someone is bad mouthing another, others ... when you never said it. Unbelievable. Before these “new” computer programs when people spliced tapes, if you really listened intently, it didn’t sound real. On the other hand, Now ... it sounds real.

Regarding YOR being number one -- well that was inevitable. It is inevitable. What a display of genius competence. I mean I read the lyrics before I bought them, but listening to the music combined with these words ... well, I don’t mean to be rude ... but then, I don’t think anything “new” could be better. Nope. This is literally my number one favorite -- YOR. No other one of Morrissey’s records holds a candle. Like I said, the combination of the music with the mesmerizing, mind altering, perfect lyrics ... I still listen to YOR millions of times a week between here and my car. The CD’s never were replaced. And they shall remain. Now, how is anybody suppose to work their way through YOR. Upon competing -- it’s a one horse race. YOR was number one, is number one, and shall always be number one. It’s just the way it goes, and it shall continue. By the way I also love Shame and Because of My Poor Education. Love, love, love.

And to the complete nutjobs who keep on persisting with their inane sending “correspondence” attaching other’s names -- mine, BrummieBoy’s, Morrissey’s, -- you are just horrors. I can’t believe it’s happening. Again. I thought those days were over. And with you monstrosities, horrors ... it’s such a joke. But these new computers, not the old ones, apparently you can splice all of your telephone conversations and keep sending malice in a “new” way. Knock yourselves out. Bastards.

Lastly, I am so happy about this breakthrough that Morrissey is feeling better.
This is a night to remember. I’m so tired, but I’ll go to sleep and have lovely dreams ... because, I know that he is feeling better.
And this will continue. It will. I have a feeling.

There’s nothing to improve on YOR. I can’t, I won’t let this slide. It Needs NO improvement.

One burning question, though, what say you of rescheduling a few US shows that were canceled? Many people say these cancellations were due to poor ticket sales, but I know that at least two of the shows were sold out that got canceled, so I reject that opinion. Would love to hear if this is even remotely possible given your schedule, etc. Best of health to you for the remainder.

Moz sends a message via FB and says "we will resume" with the European tour, but does absolutely nothing for the canceled US shows -- and let's not forget the Salisbury show that needs rescheduling. Allow me to be honest here: I, too, was a bit surprised that he scheduled an Oakland show as oppose to, say, a bigger city like San Francisco or even Los Angeles -- an even greater surprise is that, aside from Coachella, he didn't book any of these big city venues. Perhaps his schedule was tight and booked to maximum and thus had no room to book more shows. Like you said jwizjam, some of these canceled US shows were not due to poor ticket sales, so what is going on here? As some have said, this may all be due to poor tour management, and I think that is the key role in all of this cancellation chaos. Let us not forget the 10 day gig at the Palladium two years ago booked as a farewell to the venue before it went through a makeover. 10 days?? Really? I'm not a booking agent, but from the moment they announced the shows I knew that was a terrible idea. There are a ton of Moz fans in LA, but certainly not enough to fill a 10 day residency. Well, the booking managers learned their lesson. They canceled about 2-3 shows and tried to sell discounted tickets to help fill the venue.

So I guess, overall, all of this is a result of poor tour management specifically in the US. Having typed that last sentence, I'm thinking now if his UK management is the one responsible for his US shows, or does Moz have his own US team?
