It's probably just a rush to clear leftover old versions before the new one comes out. Should've started a while ago...I guess there's still time... but really, who's gonna order this with a new one on the way? We already have it.

Southpaw Grammar - Ltd Ecolbook Version (Score:1, Informative)
"Ecolbooks are little format harcover "books" (the size of a jewelcase) with the CD-booklet (sometimes more or an extended version) stapled in and houses one CD (sometimes 2) in a sleeve that's also stapled in.
Mostly these things are just for the initial pressing, so some are somewhat limited editions. Thus a bit different from those digi-packs, because of the book-like format.
Looks cool. And when they come with special bonus stuff, a must have for the hardcore fans."

I got this info from a website discussing the series of reissues. Seems all that is different is a stciker. Nice....if you like that kind of thing.

This 2008 reissue is on Rhino's "Flashback" label which given their reputation gives the impression that it's new or even improved - it isn't. The CD arrives shrink-wrapped with it's sticker "Rhino Flashback - Original Artists - Original Album" on the outside - and that's it - nothing else is different - because underneath the shrink-wrap is the exactly the same lame 1980s CD issued some 20 years ago with no change in anything - especially the SOUND.

        The Flashback label (Score:2, Informative)
Rhino's "Flashback" label is a budget imprint. Their typical releases on this offshoot are the " 10 Great Hits"-type of releases. Southpaw is sort of an enigma for them to be releasing, when anyone who would want it again would want the bonus tracks.

It has been said that the Sire-Reprise edition IS out of print in the US, so, however meager, it is serving a "niche." It's been a while since I've seen a Flashback release so maybe they are trying to compete with the "Collector's Choice" market. That label specializes in rare, out of print albums that have inbuilt cult followings. Southpaw would have been right up their alley.

        Cheers,

      Beware (Score:2, Informative)
I had this preordered, and it arrived today. It's just Southpaw Grammar. No bonus tracks, no apparent remastering, just the same CD I already have. At least I only wasted $5.98 on it.

You can thank me later, Morrissey.
