Basically, Morrissey (sorry, but looking a tad tubby) and band (Boz looking VERY tubby) stand in a completely white room pretending to play the song while pugs (ugly small dogs) walk around.
Morrissey looks old - like he's 60 rather than 50 - while dancing about like a toddler at a wedding disco and he's wearing a lot of mascara, and a frilly shirt. Some might say he looks like a mime artiste - I say he looks like a transvestite
It makes the videos for "You Have Killed Me" and "Irish Blood, English Heart" look like masterpieces. I know Morrissey has never gone all out with his videos, but this was a real low in my opinion. I never want to see it again - it made me feel ashamed and embarrassed for my favourite artist.

You didn't really expect a video of him trolling around Paris, did you? That would have been pig-shit obvious. Besides, is it really wise to blow away money on production for a video when the rest of the world is struggling through tough economic times? That would just be more ammunition for the haters. Instead, this is a typical Moz-doesn't-care-about-music-video video with just him and the band doing their thing.
The video serves its purpose with what limited exposure it will get. The one being shown Monday should be a better quality version.
Sometimes these stark white background give off and reflect studio lighting giving the film an overexposed look. That's why make up may be used to accentuate feature like around the eyes. You see that often in silent films. How cinematique Moz.
Nice moment when Moz bends down to greet the little pooch and the pooch waddles away. Nobody wants his love, indeed!
Overall, nice video. Reminds me a little of "Playboys" with the minimal background. All your attention is to Moz and the song, with a nice cameo shot of Boz tooting away.

There is no superfluous 'visual co-efficient' storyboard to interrupt my initial responses to the song. Promotional videos can really annoy if they're crass, as future listenings always trigger disturbing intrusive flashbacks of bogus images.
Morrissey appears entirely comfortable in his near-50 year old skin. In an age of botox, photoshop and vaseline lens evasion, it's nourishing to encounter the raw physicality of a performer unimpaired by record company airbrushing. This is just like using my opera glasses at the Birmingham Symphony Hall.
My only quibble is that the fascinating canines do not get enough face-time.
I always thought he'd confront the ageing taboo as he has confronted so many other useless inhibitions. The mock-horrified response to his ironic use of his own youthful iconic image (in a playful ironic gesture on the 'Greatest Misses' CD) confused some into thinking he would flinch from the challenge.
Still, if he did wield the scalpel, I'm sure he'd make a better job of it than Pete Burns, Madonna or George Osborne.
I don't always approve of Morrissey as a role-model for young people, but I hope this gets played on the newly resucitated Top of The Pops alongside Girls Aloud. If both artists are featured, it will make it worth enduring the usual silly Oasis / U2 / (C)oldplay clone 'dad-rock' which always interupts the exciting gyrations of the latest 'pop' sensations.
This has really got my Sunday Morning off to a nice start and I will be humming this as I walk my Westie on a cold, blustery winter's day here in England.

Dorrissey (wearing brown eye shadow and silly jewellery in video) needs a good kick in the arse as a songwriter. When is he going to move away from this 'corporate (give me money) melancholy'?
It really is pathetic for a 50 year old man to try and deceive his audience into thinking he is a lonely/desolate troubadour when in fact he has more in common with your average corporate C.E.O than he does with anyone on this forum.
As a writer he never stops feeling sorry for himself and as for the music, the pub rock vibe just goes on and on and on...
One would have thought that after being brought back into the fold over five years ago (the maudlin self pity was justified when he didn't have a record deal) and after startling commercial success he would actually stick his neck out, artistically, and start being innovative.
Dream on. It's never going to happen. His career from this point onwards is just going to be Quarry/Tormentors/Refusal all mashed up with mediocre 'please feel sorry for me' songs forever and ever.
Not that he cares of course. His eye has always been on the spreadsheet and rarely on the music sheet.
I think everyone would agree that all his work from The Smiths right up to and including the much maligned but gorgeous 'Malajusted' - included songs of outstanding merit. We the punters got value for money in those days. He had something to sing then - and sang it very well.
His output has been so awful in recent years that I wish now he had never got the record deal with Attack - the absence of a record deal might have preserved his standing as a songwriter, for posterity!
Now it seems that only his reputation as a self absorbed moaner/whiner/malcontented narcissist that shall survive him. He is destroying his own legacy as I write.
Pathological greed and the pursuit of even more cash than what he has already (he must be worth at least $30,million dollars at this point!) has been his downfall artistically - and this continues as long as you people continue to 'subscribe' to his artistic and musical demise.
One recalls one of his famous quotes:
"Madonna's career is nothing short of organized prostitution...".
Three words spring to mind at this particular moment.
Kettle, pot & black.
Madonna's career is totally corporate - but she could never be accused of being mediocre, complacent, stuck in an artistic rut, or indeed smug.
She has always pushed out the boat artistically - unlike someone we 'know'.

I’ve mentioned before that I literally love the song Paris. I also stated months ago that I know all about some aspects of the song Paris. Paris Hilton’s family box if you trace her family line back like a hundred years or less - maybe, her family was from Ireland. So, there is a little bit of a reference to Paris Hilton. But then, there is a lot of other symbolic, cryptic meanings to the specifications of the lyrics of this beautiful, well written song.
I understand all of Morrissey’s intentions regarding this adorable video and this impeccable song.
Morrissey is so special, unique and more good looking than the young Elvis Presley. But I don’t care if he got fat one day, or if he looked old one day
It’s all about how I feel about Morrissey and feelings are never wrong. And please keep this in mind
I have never in my entire life seen such a display of strangers who call yourselves “fans”. I just don’t understand the reasons.
You are looking at Morrissey on the cover who carries in his arms, his son. But you, you thugs, doormats, whatever you victims are, well you can’t make sense of any of this. Now send yourselves back to where you came from. Look at what you’ve done. And keep dwelling on The Smiths, then validate reality here
Thank You and Good night.
