If you ask me this story was just a half baked, half arsed PR media stunt load of old crap to create brand awareness for the new Greatest Hits LP; they recycled the old story about Moz's apparant millions he was offered to do Coachella '06.
I saw the follow up They-are-not-reforming article on NME.com and of course at the bottom it gave the release date for the Sound of the Smiths.

It doesn't take a genious to work out that Morrissey and Marr WILL share a concert stage again at some point before they die, the law of averages (and diminishing returns!) says so.

Lets just hope its sooner rather than later.

There cannot ever be a Smiths reunion, the same people and attitudes and the band itself as a moment in time has gone, the band and its music is a fleeting moment based on the situation at that point in the universe. Who would want to see all four of those quys trying to recreate the past. What the world wants is for Morrissey and Marr to create a new project together. To me that would be a batch of new songs written only by Morrissey and Marr, or a concert tour of Morrissey and Marr and other musicians of Marr's choice playing bass and drums, billed as Morrissey and Marr, and playing other songs that the Morrissey and Smiths songbook.

Come on Morrissey, do some get out the vote shows in Texas? Or a Obama celebration party!!! This is will be the first election where the person I voted for actually won.

Also, forget about The Smiths, I want a Morrissey cover album of The Kinks (or a dance cover album of Prince or a Stevie Nicks cover album). Time to ditch your songwriters of the last 16 years, 3 or 4 good songs an album is not good enough for the best singer of my generation.
