I was reading the political stories in the Scottish broadsheet "The Sunday Herald" when mention was made of Barack Obama, on his UK visit, carrying a box of Cd's - including The Smiths - which the Tory leader had given to him:

As the senator swept out through Parliament's gates it emerged that he was taking with him a box of CDs of music by some of Cameron's favourite British bands, including The Smiths, Radiohead, Gorillaz and Lily Allen.

The Obama charm offensive tour plays Downing Street

Good to hear that one of the most inspirational politicians in recent years now possesses material of The Smiths, even if it was supplied by the detestable Tory toff.

  • While I hate the man intensely, and can't quite understand why he likes bands like the Smiths, REM, Radiohead etc (who are so anti everything Cameron is supposed to stand for), I suppose you have to respect his right to like them.

Unless, of course, he only says he likes them because his PR people told him to.

Maybe he'll bring his copy of Viva Hate along to Maggie Thatchers state funeral and play 'Margaret On The Guillotine' to show us all how funny he is..

Also, I don't expect Obama will ever listen to any of those CDs. He probably feels like I felt when my granny bought me a 5ive album years ago: "What the fuck have I been given this shit for?! It says nothing to me about my life.."

NOW UN-BAN ME FROM THE FORUMS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the man for which this website is totally dedicated, I strongly believe that David Cameron is the dog's bollocks...he is a breath of fresh air after the totally corrupt Blair/Brown years of Downing Street. Remember the dreadful Iraq war everyone, which Tony is responsible for in great part!

What's most impressive about Cameron, is that he seems to adore Mr. Morrissey which I think is a sound enough reason to like the leader of the Tory party. He is younger than me, depressing but true enough; but I do adore the cycling leader of the Tory party.

David Cameron is EVERYMAN in the true sense of the word. Granted he has the a toff background, but, moving beyong his cliched toff background one can imagine him as the foreman, the head teacher, the butcher the baker, the candle stick maker, the true party leader...there is just something about him that has the common touch. It is completely foolish of Morrissey to reject Cameron completely when in fact he may be possibly the greatest Prime Minster that Britain is ever going to have.

Cameron is an Exception and not a living embodiment of the rule of the Tory Party - unlike the irritating buffoon that that is Mayor of London - Boris Johnson. I like Boris as Mayor, but David has much greater charisma.

Come on people & Morrisey, give David a chance, he is is much greater than any of you could ever imagine.

I'm sweetly devoted - and hope you win the next general election David - knowing you visit this forum frequently.

God Bless you in your endeavour to be the next PM.

P.S Lest we forget, Mr. Cameron has every intention of offering Mr. Morrissey a peerage when he enters No. 10. How inviting is that! Mr. Morrissey the jumped up chav from South Manchester transmogrified into Lord Morrissey of Stretford.

Let's look at the big picture folks as always.

I just can't imagine Mr. M writing a song called 'David on the Guillotine'.

It would be totally horrid of SPM to write such a dirge.

The testimony today was excellent. You can see it all here: http://www.infowars.com/?p=3583

  • It appears to me that Cameron is a sincere fan of the music of The Smiths, despite some of you ugly people constantly saying it must be a lie or that he has no right, all because you are prejudice against him.

But I doubt Barry Obama will get into those CDs. I saw a list of songs on Obama's IPod and it included crap like Sheryl Crow. What a typical DEMOCRAT.

WTF, Obama is only inspirational to the type of uneducated morons that get sucked into following cult leaders. Obama is a huckster of deceit and hate. A racist, black militant and ugly.

I am deeply saddened that any Smiths fan would be taken in by such and obvious con-man. I am also disappointed in David Cameron for wasting his time to meet with such a vile racist.

  • I will not vote for either Obama or McCain. I probably will not vote, as I'm tired of voting for the lesser of two evils and getting exactly that.

I saw an Obama ad and it could've been a McCain ad-- talking about nuclear weapons falling into the hands of terrorists, exploiting the fear already instilled in the American consciousness. Any good dictator knows, to control the population, you keep them fed on a steady diet of bread and fear. Same old thing and more of the same.

A lot of people have to place their faith in a politician, then be betrayed before they wake up.

No war, but a class war. Always has been.

  • "The Smiths, Radiohead, Gorillaz and LILY ALLEN!"

    Poor Barack!
Either Ravin' Dave's got really eclectic tastes or he's just a bit mad; I'd plump for the latter, he is descended from the royal family after all.

I've nothing against people from all walks of life claiming to like certain types of music. One's cultural interests are not always indicative of one's personality. Indeed, I think it's a good thing that Morrissey has fans beyond the liberal left and the working class. However, I do take issue with Cameron's glossing over of Morrissey's politics; I suppose there are some people who can always appreciate the music without having to appreciate, or even like the musician, but Morrissey isn't really the type of cultural figure where that's possible. It's like being BNP and a fan of The Clash.

What I do find more disturbing though is that ex-Labour supporters are actually seeing the Conservatives as a viable alternative to a Labour government. Just because the great socialist dream collapsed under the rule of Tony "I admire Thatcher" Blair and is now damper than a damp squib under the misrule of Gordon "financial clown" Brown, just because Boris Johnson has a floppy fringe and is mildly amusing on TV and just because David Cameron looks a bit boyishly foppish and happens to namedrop a few good bands, does not mean that the Tories are any less than a bunch of scheming parasites, inherently and insidiously racist, homophobic, fundamentalist and greedy Victorian, style Fat Cats. Granted, that could well describe Blair's government, but for god's sake, don't get disallusioned with the Left and swing Right! The Lib Dems or your local independent might not seem like the most charismatic charmer, but at least they'll know what it's like living in the land of the plebs with the rest of us and they might just be far enough away from Westminster and their own backsides to want to open their eyes to the rest of the country.

  • Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:

    * Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
    * Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
    * Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.

Source: 1998 IL State Legislative National Political Awareness Test Jul 2, 1998

That is his state level work....

And he is breathing hard to re-enact the assault weapons ban as president among several other jackass ideas.

Read all his votes and handgun bill he authored here. http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/barack_obama_gun_control.htm [ontheissues.org]

His stance on gun control and bans would be sufficient enough to cause him to loose millions of votes nationwide. I don't see how he can support such unconstitutional legislation, when he has taught Constitutional law in the past.

  • because it is, commies around the world may not like us americans but what we americans dont like is some junior senator who has a god complex who gallavants around the world and says such brilliant things as

"i come to you today not as an american but as a citizen of the world..."

then to top off his summer camp vacation he would cancel his trip to go see troops when they dont allow cameras there. this guys talks about "change" but when a politician cancels a trip to see troops who are wounded in war all because you do not have a chance for a photo op. looks like barry has the whole politician thing down pretty good. after all why invest time and energy in doing something decient for veterns when the whole world cant see how santamonious you are for doing it.

say what you will about a war, an illegal war, war crimes by us evil imperialst white american devils....whatever, but this really did him in. americans overall DO NOT like ANYONE who passes over our military personel.

and dont get me started when he said that by inflating your tires we will save the amount of oil we import daily. last time i checked no body drives cars with flat tires.

mccain really is not much better at all, but at least he doesnt spout off marxism daily.

  • We all know that Obama is the lead man for the democratic party as of now. What many don't know is his politics are normal, not change. He flip-flops all the time from Iran's threat to us to his withdrawal from Iraq. He voted for the Patriot Act and Bush's FISA bill. He wants to increase payroll taxes as well as the payroll cap. He once gave gas tax relief in Illinois but now calls it a "scheme". He wants to raise capital gains taxes even though it has been proven that an increase in these taxes reduced government revenue and hurt the economy not to mention that over 100 million Middle Class Americans own stock. This mentality shows that fairness is more important than bringing in extra revenue and allowing economic growth regardless of the perverse consequences. He voted to continue funding the war in Iraq and in Afghanistan. He also threatened Pakistan(an ally) that he would attack them unilateraly(like Bush did in Iraq) if they do not comply. His wife was a lawyer for a pickle factory that put 150 workers in LaJunta, Colorado out of work but "says" he is the champion of the working class. He voted against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act(not an attack on Roe vs Wade - even NARAL voted for this measure to protect a baby that sometimes survive an abortion instead of being thrown in a dumpster to die hours later.) He is listed as the most liberal senator(remember, Bush is known as a liberal republican) in the Senate and he believes that the government is the answer to our problems. He pleads that he will solve our energy crisis(something most people realize can only be done through the competitive market with profit incentives, not through wasteful government.) Not to mention he won't allow ANY drilling on ANY of our oil sites here in America and even if we started drilling today it would take years for gas relief! He has a lack of experience and has only been in the Senate LESS than 1 term! He avoided tough votes in the Senate like abortion, gun ownership, and crime by voting present. In his 1 term he only passed 1 bill. One of his main campaign supporters flies a communist flag in his campaign office in Houston. He flip-flopped on Israel remaining an undivided state, on his pastor, he took money from PACs and special interest groups but didn't acknowledge it. He does not take invading Iran off the table(which could lead us into WW3). He does not oppose a national ID card and he wants the coercive inefficient government to have a monopoly on our healthcare! He supports nation building like Bush and Clinton. The democrats in 2006 were voted in to stop the war and to open up earmarks from Congressional spending, this has not happened! He plagiarizes Deval Patrick's speeches and can not speak well without a teleprompter. When in the Senate he said he "accidentally hit the wrong button" on over 5 votes!(This is his main job is hitting the right button!) He is associated with Tony Rezko and even bought a house from the man knowing that he was going to be indicted for illegal practices! He "stretched the truth" about his uncle saving people in Auschwitz when in the army even though his uncle was in the navy and U.S. troops never set foot in Auschwitz until it was already secured by Russian and Polish forces. He favors people like Maxine Waters who has talked about NATIONALIZING resources(complete government control without competition or market). He is supported by many special interest groups. He is a socialist who believes that government should control us. The list goes on and on and everyday he seems to live up to his theme "change". In fact, the guy changes his stance all the time. Where does Obama stand today? It isn't with the constitution but with the Federal Reserve and the big bankers. You want to cure our economic woes and support a constitutional foreign policy? Look elsewhere!
